If we're going to have this 'major signing' before Saturday they need to get a move on as its Tuesday night already.. Wasnt Lee's permit meant to be sorted by today aswell? Any other signing we make this week I cant see playing against Forest as they would only get one training sesh to learn the playing style. Unless a deal was done today and they havnt announced it yet.. It would seem like a missed oppertunity if we dont have atleast another big signing before Leicester. As someone said in another thread it seems like a watched kettle isnt boiling. I know people will say its so early in the transfer window and to shut my whining, but we need these deals now not later.
Lee's work permit is the 12th Give Adkins and co a chance - there is a while to go yet so dont write anything off
Who said there would definitely be a major signing? Adkins said: there's a chance we might get a major signing. Doesn't sound like he means we'll definitely get a major signing before Saturday Patience is a virtue.
He said thats what they are trying to do. Yeah i understand that we need to be patient. But i cant help but feel that the next probably 3-4 games will be very influential in our promotion battle so the sooner the better, as decided in the sign people now or later thread from a couple of days ago. If this signing is made in the next couple of days the player will have a very good chance of being abled to be trained up in our game style before Leicester. If they arent signed by Monday next week then they have missed the Forest game and will probably not be ready for Leicester
No one said their 'would' be a major signing. Only person that said that was NC at his fans dinner about 2 months ago! NA has said he will strengthen whether it be a loan signing, a major signing or a free signing...
Adkins said after Coventry that a major signing is what they are 'endevourign to do'. Hes also said that he wants to 'do some business before Forest' with 2-3 players, Lee being one. I think its fair to say we are definitely in the market for atleast one more player.
Could have been Hooper or someone else we haven't heard about..you can't always get everything you wish for. Adkins might have hoped a deal would go through but it's stalled.
I think with that even if we do get a "Major" signing in time for forest i doubt we will change the team. The only change would be Lambert for Lee (if his permit comes through) this is because having already trained with the squad Lee has a head start in fitting in. Think the Major signing would sit on the bench and have a 20 minute spell. Only if we sign one that is!
Thats why its frustrating, if this mystery person had signed today or yesterday like they were pushing for, they could have started against Forest and Leicester. Cant see that happening now for Forest and probably not for Leicester either. Every game counts, especially in the form we're in at the moment
Shh don't say he has been training with us, the immigration people will flip. Not handing him a work permit. Lee has been quietly looking around southampton, watching the boats come in. Having a good old cup of tea and watching a few football matches as he sits and relaxs on his tour. Tomorrow Lee is going to west key to sample the delites of Cost Coffee with his new pal Chaplow. He will also be looking at getting some Burberry clothes as he has seen alot of people in southampton wear them.
I have a block of you in the fridge left over for christmas! You were crap making roast pots. Shame on you beef dripping shame on you!
Lee could be the 'big' signing! We just don't know how good he is but he is obviously highly rated Obviously the sooner the better but these things at the same time shouldn't be rushed
It's Tuesday. You want a major signing before the weekend..? Normally Saints announce them 11pm on Thursdays, on the OS, and don't spill a single bean before then. That's still before the weekend and two days away from now. Premature bleating, I think..?
I agree with the post that signings need to be made as soon as possible. Adkins seems to be too airy fairy over transfers. I would personally find my target in the run in to the window and table a big offer and get on with it. Not these 'substantial' bids, i.e. half the price they're valued at. Personally I can see Adkins going the same way as Warnock IF we get promoted, i don't think he will mix it with the big boys, especially when he cant sign any big names.
Yes but Thursday is too late for Saturday, and probably too late for next Saturday. In my opinion two of the most important games of the season
Adkins suggests targets but doubt he does any negotiating with the player, apart from trying to convince him to come, and you can't even reach that stage until the selling club agrees.
Boring. What's whining going to do? We have a professional and successful manner when approaching transfers, a pragmatic and arguably prudent strategy, which has so far secured us players not only with clear ability, but also with a mindset and attitude that only augments the squad's drive and focus. It's not as simple as planting a huge bid in the lap of the target's club, there are many other sections of negotiations, especially if the player has an agent (signing-on fees, agent fees, bonuses, percentage of the next sale, etc). Teams like Leicester find no problem rolling in the transfers because they presumably give no regard to splashing money, for extras the thrifty Nicola would toss out of the nearest window. I'm sure if we wanted a player enough, we'd get him, providing the money needed wasn't obscenely inflated. But we won't be pushed around by agents, which I'm happy with. Have faith, in essence, is what I suggest.
Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood scored another brace tonight. Another goalscorer with good technical ability, being tracked by Premier League clubs. Wouldn't be a bad back-up at all.
