Yet again Nigel and Nicola have shown they know exactly what they are doing. It's about time that some people on here stopped moaning. The past 18 months have shown that we don't do our business in public and we just need to be patient. Good things come to he who waits!

These are incredibly exciting times to be a Sainst fan and for the first time in years I have complete faith in our management team to do what is right for our club.

    COYR!

Neither Nicola nor Nigel is infallible and both have made the occasional mistakes but nothing of any great consequence.

They are however not Gods and are not above having their actions questioned.

Some have criticised the loan deal but if that helps Spurs while our own youngsters are developing I can only see that as a great benefit.

I do however feel we need another decent centre half and am not sure about another striker at the moment.

Football isn't a straightforward science and sometimes you add a good ingredient but it doesn't work out. However, most decisions made by NC and his team have proved correct. Apart from wages you can't lose with a loan. Iago should be good for us, but if he isn't he won't play much. All the squad will get their chance.

Tbh Godders, if they haven't shown you enough that the management of SFC is in safe hands, then I don't know what else they are supposed to do. They are ambitious without being irresponsible. They are imaginative, whilst being realistic. And their dreams for the club are probably more than any Saints fan can ever say they have pondered and be considered on the right side of sanity.

No, they are not infallible, but my goodness, they're getting bloody close.

TSS I feel very comfortable with them running our club and I trust them to do so responsibly and they have done so as you say.

However that doesn't mean that we can't question some of their actions.

True Godders, but you are being amazingly picky. Halfway through the Jan window, etc, etc... Besides, it's your opinion only, and on this occasion, one that I don't necessarily agree with wholeheartedly. Of course, just my opinion.

I can remember constant moaning from many on here last January. I like a good moan but with the Saints there's been nothing to moan about for ages. Long may it continue. Some Saints fans amaze me with their ridiculous snipes and moans. COYR.

Well I think you will find most "moaners" either are relatively young (trying not to be "youngist" here) or part time football supporters who have only been fed on Premiership clashes on Sky or the stats on Football Manager.

We need a name...no we we don't. Who remembers the fantastic Forrest sides back in the 80s, at the time no household names but what a team (yes I was at the ZDS cup final against them too)!? Someone has to be bring players in to the system rather re-circulating the "old" names.

This brings me on tot the academy and when we all tend to get a bit miffed at "our" talent being sold on. Well, sorry, these players are not "our" talent. Most support other sides (as most players) and have signed to the Saints academy because it is one of, if not, the best in the UK. It's just like anyone of us lot selecting a University...it doesn't tie us to that University town does it. Obviously developing these players we do have a good chance of keeping hold of them, but if as a youngster you have supported the flowing football of Arsenal and love a certain Mr T. Henry then it aint rocket science when said club comes a sniffing. Yes, it is annoying but it is also fact.

The football we are being served up in the last 12 months has been fantastic and at times breath taking. We all have our point of view but I am not a fan of slagging individual players in a very public manner. It was for this reason that I recently wrote about how did the manager do then after a particular poor match. He is fallible, but overall the positives far outway the negative.

The recent signings seem to me to be pretty astute and to me, possibly a gamble: If these players play to there potential then the next few months are going to be well worth watching.

Have to agree that I doubt we will go for another striker now, as we seem to have enough (so the Hooper debacle may now be put to bed to possibly resurface in the summer). We also have enough cover in midfield, so like others would like to see possibly another central defender (something most us questioned near the start of the season).

We sit at the top, but we will have to get used to the idea that we may not be top for long...but at the start of the season I was hoping top ten and with a bot of luck top six. Of course, like others, expectations change. I'd be disappointed not to finish top two now.

As to "will when will some people learn"? To those you voiced that at, then the answer is you probably wont. They will only be happy when we play in the Premier League playing against their "stars" in other teams. They may never understand that fans of other teams will look at our players in the same light that they view their "names" in other teams. The over exposure of the Premiership by Sky is to blame for this culture. It's still a funny old game though!

If you want to see what moaning really is then have a look at the 'OfficialSaints' page on facebook. I go through it daily for a chuckle and guaranteed self-esteem boost. People on there suggesting, non-ironically, that we should be signing the likes of David Silva

SecondStaiin and Godders are probably my vintage (like our friend Beddy) and we have seen all the downs and all the downs! Ups have been infrequent. Ted Bates got us to the promised land, but couldn't deliver a team worth watching unless it was that 66/67 season when we seemed to be able to score 5 and still draw! Lawrie Mac supervised the only real run of feelgood and even that started with relegation! There was a time at the end of the 70's and start of the 80's when Saints were a team to watch, and then it all slid badly again. Occasional little flurries - the Hoddle era was better than most would care to admit, and of course the Strachan era was pretty good. But nothing matched the year on year feeling of that Lawrie Mac team. Now we have a manager who is bright and tactically aware, but perhaps more importantly he is backed by a chairman who doesn't think it is his duty to hold the manager back and do things "the Southampton way" which was what led to Lawrie's departure.

Godders, I find myself agreeing with you on the single point that we are still entitled as fans to ask what is going on. But reading your posts you seem to be in accord with most of us old gits who think that this is as good a time to be a Saint as we can ever remember. For that NA and NC must take credit and they get things right often enough to have my trust, which is hard earned after all the years of complete garbage.

Ah yes, the old OfficialSaints page. Always good for a laugh or to see if anyone believed what you wrote on footballrumours.com.

Can this be classified as gender stereotyping and therefore blatantly sexist?

What has been perplexing me for a long time is why so very few women appear on University Challenge and those that do make very little contribution. Last nights sole woman being a case in point. I have concluded that the reason so many young women do well at school/college now is that they get lots of extra marks for neat handwriting and lots of pretty coloured in pictures and their feminist mums help them by doing all their coursework for them.

Now if that has offended you Jen you will undestand how I felt about your original comment.

Adkins often gets the tactics completely wrong away from home. Beating a team with 1 win in 9 is hardly a test. He is very good tactically at home but playing away is completely is a completely different scenario..something Adkins doesn't seem to understand. Next few games will show what we're really made of
