IMO we are taking a very sensible approach to our new signings. It gives me great confidence in our board and management. The deal to get Taiwo and now it looks like Diakite were very much done out of the media spotlight. That is the way we should be doing our business. Both deals are for young hungry players who will be signed for six months with an option to buy. No large transfer fees for unproven Prem players, therefore no large signing on fees and no long term contracts. If they play well, then we already have the option to buy and if they don't perform they we can simply cut our losses and say goodbye. This really shows mature ,shrewd and sensible management. If we get Onoucha and one additional CM or CF then i will be happy with our transfer business in what is historically a notoriously difficult time to get value for money transfers completed. It also shows that somebody (IMO MH) has a worldwide knowledge of available players. The club stated that as part of its academy plans it intends to establish a top class scouting network this year. Going forward that can only improve our ability to attract top young home-grown and foreign youngsters.
Absolutely agree. I've been impatient but never doubted TF and MH for a second. Everything they do and say seems to make sense. Exciting times for Rrrrrrs fans.
I agree too. We will get some decent signings in before 31st , more than the clubs around us near the bottom. If they are in the class of Onuha and Taiwo i will bemore than happy. I too am not panicing and believe in the regime.
Same here. Intelligent loan deals in the first instance for all the reasons given. Like to see the rumoured interest in Clint Dempsey come to fruition - though won't be holding my breath.
Not so sure about him Brix. Although he is enjoying a purple patch at the moment. Always thought that he was not an out and out stricker and instead played in the hole behind a front man. MH likes his teams to play 4-4-2. I can't see Adel being part of a 4 man midfield for MH. He won't work hard enough for MH to put him in there. Therefore if Adel is going to play for us, he will prob play in this roaming role behing HH/Mackie as part of a front two. If we already have Adel to play in the "hole" then i really don't see a need to add the likes of Dempsey to our squad. If Dempsey does sign then i feel that this prob means the end for Adel.
Excellent post and completely agree Think it's a reflection on the clever business sense of the owners and sensible management of the club we've got now - feels good to get praise for the club (however grudging) from workmates instead of pisstaking
