Just wondering what your pre match routine is before a home game. I get off the train at Southampton Central and make my way into town and stop at Yates for a while, I then make my way down towards the ground and stop for a few in the King Alfred via the Bookies after having placed yet another crap accumulator. I then meet a couple of friends who sit the the Chapel (yawn) for a drink in a pub near that side can anybody tell me the name of it? Small bar with a couple of benches outside.... I then might grab a burger or hotdog outside the ground (as the food is even more **** inside) before taking my seat in either the Kingsland Or Northam. My tipple is very boring Lager and maybe a few jagerbombs. What do you do in the hours leading up to the match? Visit any good pubs?. If your not a drinker what do you do for your build up?. People who take children what time do you head off? Is it less time before the game so the kids don't get bored waiting to go to the match?. It may seem I drink a lot but I really don't I can't handle the constant need for a Piss during the match and annoying others by keep going backwards and forwards. Just something to pass the time away before somebody does the Birmingham match thread.
Do you mean the chapel arms? my routine is pretty much the same as yours, train into soton mcdonalds yates king alfred ground king alfred something to eat back to train pub all night when back home!
Yes that is pretty much my routine but it does not sound to healthy does it? Yeah it must be the Chapel Arms I guess only been over that side a few times since gettin to know these new people.
My Dad normally picks me up in Basingstoke about 1pm, we travel down the M3 and park either around Cable/Wilson Street or, if it's full already, we'll try around Bond/William Street. We normally get parked at about 2pm and walk straight to the stadium, giving Ted Bates a pat on his boots as we go past. We usually have a walk around the shop, (especially if it's as cold as it was last night...!) and go straight in. We used to get food inside but it was costing us a tenner each week so now we bring a choccy bar for half-time-eats and we have a sarnie when we get back to the car. (no prawns allowed though!) We like to get sat at around 2.30pm to watch the team train and see the stadium fill up. Good times!
I don't really have one to be honest, well not much of one. All I know is it costs me a ****ing fortune in Chinese takeaways and wine every Saturday, just to let the missus allow me to go in the first place
Couple of things I know its rude to ask a lady but which age bracket are you in Kate? Also no pre match drink at all? One thing I have always wanted to know was what time you would need to be at the ground to meet the players on arrival and is it easy to get pictures with them?
It does have its upsides of course. I've been going to the same Chinese for about 2 years now and every Saturday order the exact same thing. So I get discount for m my loyalty which saves me a few quid and its there ready and waiting for 7.30pm with out fail and he usually chucks the wine in for free as well. All I have to do after is watch some truly **** tv until MOTD comes on. Although I must say that "take me out" show aint to bad at the moment
Haha brilliant! Yes I don't know if I should admit this but I have seen a couple of episodes you get some right pieces of clunge on there!! Thankfully I don't get back to Reading in time though after being at games.
Just have a white wine at the ground. If I've not managed to eat first, one glass makes me pie-eyed (yes, a lightweight) which used to be the best way to watch Saints.
Haha you know the score Alex! I just to pretend I hate watching it so she thinks shes getting one up on me. But in reality I'm sitting their with my free chinese and wine watching fit birds for an hour and a half after having been at football all day And yes she is blonde!
Bloody hell Fran you must of been a cheap date in hey day! Did blokes try and ply your with a whole bottle before taking advantage?
Do you see most of us on here as rable Joey? Are you a wine drinker like Fran or is champagne more your style?
One of two 1,Drive in to town and park up in the car park near Oxford Street, have a couple in the Chapel then walk on to the ground. or 2,Get Mrs to drop me at Totton train station, get off at Southampton, meet up with couple of mates, then a few drinks in town at whatever pub takes our fancy, then down to the ground. After match down a few more in various pub/bar takes our fancy before Mrs starts nagging me down the phone to get my arse home,so have a couple more before telling her i just missed the train, and will get the next one. Get her to pick me up from Totton train station, and spend the night with her having the hump cos i have had the nerve to enjoy myself.
We you know a blonde bombshell in your day? I swear I read that somewhere? Beddy will be barring me off the site soon if I get to personal with you
A long time ago I was slim, blond and knew how to fill a tee-shirt (if you know what I mean), but stayed with the same man for twenty years so missed my most interesting years.
Best place to get a burger is the guy and his son with the little van behind the chapel car park. Cheaper and better than anywhere else. For drinks I usually have a couple in the grapes and then move onto the chapel arms.
