    £30bn for new railway line
    £45bn to rescue RBS
    £12bn for Olympics
Might as well chuck another billion at pompey to keep them afloat.

    Who makes these stupid decisions.

Another example of David Cameron being completely out of touch with the great british public.

He Said - Knowing one or two Pompey fans I can completely understand the idea they can go and support Southampton is incredible and we will do everything we can to keep this friendly rivalry going.’

How wrong can he be - Pompey fans would love to support the number one club in Hampshire - for ages they have been looking for an excuse to defect to the brighter side and this could be the get out clause they have all been waiting for. Just use the toilets at st marys and dont piss on our seats

Pretty cynical, but this sounds to me like an attempt to appease the Tory voters in Portsmouth North more than genuine concern. I'd be very surprised if he actually backed this up with serious actions. PFC, unlike RBS, aren't an institution of national importance, so it's not worth him getting involved.

Plompey have been moaning and whining for far to long. the time has come for them to face up to the fact that: A they must be docked at least 10 points ( probably 30 though). B the tax man should/will get their money, C their club has been punching above their weight for far to long and spending obscene amounts of money living the high life. so even if it means they fold as a club they must stop moaning and face the consequences.

Does anyone seriously think that Cameron, the fabulously wealthy ex Bullington Club member, women patronising Toff, has any genuine understanding of football or the "rivalry" between saints and pompey fans? This is a cynical vote grabbing headline making stunt. Why do i think that? because everything this ex PR Pm does is a vote winning stunt. Cameron is a 100% stunt.

Does anyone seriously think Cameron is going to ask HMCR to lay off Pompey? - he is going through the motions of appeasing a Portsmouth Conservative MP who probably has never been anywhere near Fratton Park. She is simply trying to jump on a local issue - apparently she has quite a track record of doing this on any local issues

Does anyone seriously think Cameron "knows one or two Pompey fans"?

If he did, wouldn't he keep it to himself?

Not saying itis anything other then a stunt. I just find it all rather sad. Pompies crisis is yet again being used to fill peoples egos and desire to get their 5 mins of tv time. It just makes them look even more stupid and turns even more people against pompey.

Some people felt pompey got off lightly last time, then they see this ****. Clubs are going out off business all the time, how do you think they feel when they see pompey mentioned in Parliament. Itis all becoming a farce imo.

Fair played Dave... showing support for Portsmouth, a community club in trouble.

Just like he showed support for Darlington, Leeds, Bournemouth, Luton, Southampton, Swindon, and Wrexham...

    oh wait...

In his deluded tory silverspoon head, probably watching an episode of "How!" as a kid makes him think Fred Dineage is a mate.

With all due respect, no offense to you or any other club in trouble as I honestly don't like to see any club in trouble and hope Kettering and Darlington pull out of trouble, but did any of Southampton's MP's raise the issue during Prime Minister's Question Time? Bare in mind, Cameron only mentioned us in response to the issue being raised by a Portsmouth MP. Plus, Southampton's problems were before he came into power.

Don't remember it, if it happened. Btw I'm not having a go at pompey supporters wanting their team to survive. It's all the roaches that want the lime-light by using pompeys crisis that piss me off. <ok>
