I would've taken a 0-0 before the game, yes. But Saints get a FK right outside the area where any normal person would shoot and we try and dink it in to a crowd of players! It has worked once against Hartlepool and that is it! Start shooting in those positions and ESPECIALLY in those conditions! Corners need to be driven in, not walked in! Same with gameplay in general, we need to shoot from distance and stop trying to walk the ball into the net. It hasn't worked for the last two months!
Could not agree more. With players like Lmabert and Morgan (and others) who can strike the ball so cleanly we should try it more often. Not all the time, just a bit more.
Maybe it was the wrong decision but once it is ingrained in you it is difficult to change. Personally I am happy that we are not playing kick and rush football like most teams, football abroad has moved on...
It's worked about 4/5 times over the last 18 months, although this wasn't the time to use it. Lambert should have seen no one when with Morgan and slid it to him. He'd have been able to slide it across the 6 yard box/shoot across goal and we would have had a very good chance of scoring. Having a shot in those conditions probably wouldn't have been the best decision as footing and strike may not have been good.
I don't mind them trying it half way through a game, but in the 90th minute away from home, I would have preferred to see Rickie lashing that. Disappointing.
