According to SAF, his agents was shopping him around Europe, but Pogba's switched agents since then (an indication he wants to stay IMO). So now they have to begin negotiations again. I don't think Pogba's contract runs out til next summer, so there isn't a big rush.

SAF tried to step up to the Spaniards in Europe and failed.

Gave it a very good go though: winning one Cup in 12 attempts admittedly v another English club. His overspending in the early 00s could not see United conquer Real Porto etc

So 2003-11 is the early 00s?

Like I said - Veron was pretty much a disaster and I think him, combined with Kleberson, convinced SAF to steer clear of big name and high profile signings in favour of younger players. Rio was talented but not established when we bought him - despite the big fee he was definitely one who needed time to develop. RVN was a pretty big name, but not really in much demand due to his suspect knees so we didn't really need to compete with anyone else. And personally I don't think he was particularly good for the team in the long run, and certainly doesn't compare to many of the players we've made.

Have not got access to those figures right now but I doubt the spending between 2000 and 2003 will mean Man United have outspent City or Chelsea in the entire period. Its a myth that Man United have been the biggest spenders in the PL.

Glad Giggs is staying another year, on his day he is still top class, and I can only imagine what he brings into training in terms of experience and helping motivate the younger guys.

<doh> Look at the figures from 1992 onwards. It contains the figures from 2000 as well.

(Sir - tbc ) Ryan Giggs, my favourite United player of all time, even above King Cantona, The Great Dane, Ruud, Ronnie and errrrr Djemba Djemba...

He has been sensational again this season, the goal away to Valencia with vintage even at his ripe old age, the modern day Stan Matthews could play til 40 and hopefully does.

It boils down to other teams fans being jealous, that they dont have a player of his quality (for his age), playing for them.

Great news. Giggs still has it in him to continue playing at this level.

Safe to say that this will probably be his last year as a player at United and will then probably move into a coaching role.

Chelsea fans are saying that he's past it haha, if Ryan Giggs is past it then Chelsea players must be rubbish because Ryan Giggs outran Chelsea players many times in the last game.. Chelsea fans are just bitter

Buying best players works. Best players are expensive but worth it. See Torres and Carrol.

So Gigsy is here for his 22nd year, how long did Maldini play for? Who was the longest serving player for any club? He was captain for most of the time as well.
