I couldnt resist entitling this thread with the above and composed it only it only because I cant believe Im responding to this on a match day and it made me chuckle a bit!....I follow with interest Commachio and Cuteybuns threads on our contacts with the above clubs and Ghanain partnerships

I came across this piece and thought I`d throw it in just as a matter of interest and balance in relation to what often looks like rampant open approval to recent threads

Im not making any pointed "Never let him darken our doorsteps again comment here....." (Gyan) all that is passed as far as Im concerned BUT you cant help draw comparisons with this text and the pro game

Neither do I seek to demean the Clubs work on the international scene which is exemplary but as I said in the interests of balance.... I also speak as someone who has experience of agents in action particularly at youth level

Seems corruption is rife.....and all checks should be made...cheers Dyavvy.

masquerading as clubs officials in Ghana must be weeded out to help improve the local game.

The chairman of the English Premier League is in Ghana to meet stakeholders over plans to revitalize the local league in the wake of dwindling fortunes.

There is a long held suspicion that criminals are running the game in the country to launder dirty money which has dented the image of the game.

Corruption is rife with referees accused of taking bribes while match fixing is another issue which has devilled the local league.

Sir Richards says the first step in ridding the system of its corrupt image is by ensuring that officials who run the clubs are not involved in criminal activities.

“There is the need to bring on board the Fit and Proper Person Test,” Sir Dave Richards said.

“To be a chairman or director of a club or on the FA, you have to be taken through this to check if you have a criminal record, investigate their sources of funding.

“You need high standards to achieve this. There is the need to regulate it and the league must be regulated.

“Transfers must be checked and criteria for personnel that clubs employ must be in place.”

There is a huge suspicion that there’s a mafia ring involved in Ghana football with some officials suspected to be involving in racketeering.

There are also suspected mafia gangs involved fixing results of matches.

Sir Richards, who is also Chairman of the International Committee of the England FA has been Chairman of the EPL since 1999.

The Ghana league has been struggling because of waning interest but Nyantakyi has vowed to arrest the slide with measures aimed at improving the game

Dyavvyo - African football's corrupt - is that what you're telling me? Wow! You've as much chance of cleaning up African football as you have of cleaning up Africa. Corruption is endemic. 'Fit and proper person'? - and who's going to run the checks? You can bank on it he will be offered cash or favours to overlook 'a few grey areas', and bank on him taking it too. We're decades - if not a century - away from this changing.

    Oooh you've woken up mate...

Is this to thread to high-light the corruption in African football, or to warn us not to get carried away with the links to clubs...

Dyavvy has pointed to a good piece......but the hierarchy at the club hopefully will take their time and thorough checks...

    Only just - heavy night.

Sunderland will do what the British have always done - keep ourselves as clean as possible, but happen not to notice what doesn't directly concern us. Margaret Byrne's legal nouse will keep us clean - and that's all we need to know. Over and above that - well, that's Africa's business, isn't it?

Interesting part there (if it is accurate) was Quinn saying "the obvious economic benefits to our club in terms of the final deal". If we get such benefits let him go.
