    I'm so fed up listening to commentators and pundits talking about "Professionalism" when refering to incidents during matches.
    Robbie Savage is a particular culprit; listening to him on 5live the other night talking about the Ashley Young dive as being Professional behaviour, just made me wonder what exactly are these people on about?
    So, for their benifit and education, below is the definition of the word Professional;

    A professional is a person who is paid to undertake a specialized set of tasks and to complete them for a fee.
    The traditional professions were doctors, lawyers, clergymen and commissioned military officers.
    Today, the term is applied to architects, accountants, educators, engineers, scientists, social workers and many more.
    The term is also used in sports to differentiate amateur players from those who are paid—hence "professional footballer"
    and "professional golfer".
    In some cultures, the term is used as shorthand to describe a particular social stratum of well educated,
    mostly salaried workers, who enjoy considerable work autonomy, a comfortable salary, and are commonly engaged
    in creative and intellectually challenging work.
    Less technically, it may also refer to a person having impressive competence in a particular activity.

    Because of the personal and confidential nature of many professional services and thus the necessity to place a
    great deal of trust in them, most professionals are subject to strict codes of conduct enshrining rigorous ethical
    and moral obligations.

    I don't see any reference to cheating do you Robbie Savage, Alan Shearer etc etc?
    That is all.

    How true, cheating is cheating, not professionalism, sadly though no matter how hard you try, you can't educate an idiot and most pundits are idiots, heck, I doubt the likes of Savage or Shearer could even spell 'professional'.

    I hate when they refer to it as a "professional foul." Fouling somebody on purpose for "the greater good" is cheating.. Absolute garbage that it is considered professional. Unfortunately at the same time it makes most people a bit of a hypocrite... You're the last man and the opponent gets on a break away in the 90th minute with you guys up 1-0, most people would take the player out instead of letting him go 1 on 1 against the keeper.
