If I was gonna pick realistic players then I would say: Chris Baird Wayne Bridge (loan) Both have pl experience and could do a job for us again. Baird and Jos would be a decent pair and Baird can play at RB
Would like to know how many of them have been as a sub. Still would like someone with more experience and quality
Guthrie has done well for Newcastle this season when they had injuries in cm. Not sure they would sell him now tbh and we don't need him with cork and Morgan. We need a goal scoring cm but tbh we don't know if Nigel has plans to change anything like formations etc. 4-5-1 it's a pretty popular choice in the pl now so will see....
Only really Surman for me, he never chose to leave and didn't want to either. Rory Delap, for the long throws?! (how much is he worth to Stoke!)
In the last 2 seasons he's made only 6 substitute appearances in his quota of 26 matches. Intruigingly (according to a NUFC fansite) in the last 4 seasons (1 in the championship) of his appearances only 3 have been off the bench in each season, so he's clearly good enough!
Looking at where I think we nned to strenghten I would think the following would be more than usefull: right Back: Chris Baird Left Back: Gareth Bale Centre Back: Danny Higinbotham Right Wing: Oxlaide Chamberlain Striker: Theo Walcott Mixed in with what we have that would be some side, top six at least. more importantly had we not sold them it would already comply with all UEFA finance rules and would also be 50% home grown from our Academy. All tongue in cheek obviously but if we produce the same calibre of player over the next ten years as the last ten then we will be in a very healthy position.
Er....Danny Higginbotham. Championship player at best I'd have thought. I don't think he (or Delap) would have got into our team even last year in Division 1 let alone next. You can't argue with the Oxo although Theo is an odd one ranging from the brilliant to the hopeless. As for Baird, I thought he was a good player but he can't get a regular place in Fulham's team and surely we should eventually be aiming higher than them.
Agree with Surman would do a good job for us and loved the club. Never know, maybe Walcott, does not shine for arsenal I would say, he would do better for us but would he come back?
Bale is a terrific player but his latest utterances made me take stock. He says if Spurs don't get in the Champions League, he will have to sit down and reassess his position and see what is best for him!!! Fame has gone to his head and he seems to think that the team is letting him down. Shameful.
It's fair enough really, he's debatably the worlds best LM! Plus it's not as if he has any real alleigance to Spurs i.e. he didn't come through their academy. If I was him I'd say the same thing, I mean even Barca have expressed interest in him!
