    "However, it is understood he does not view West Ham as a serious option." Good, this unsettles AC even more, and:

    "The Tyneside club(us) , who retain a strong interest in the player, are monitoring the situation." I think in the next few days we will bid 16m, and they will reluctantly accept as they will have to cut their losses, because they can still buy good players with 16m, but I am hoping we will bid 20m, ashley has the money, and I would love to see AC in a newcastle top once again!

    I understand where you're coming from and the willingness to see him back, but just think who else we 'could' get for £20m instead.

    It would be highly amusing to effectively get best part of £15m-£20 'change' for having effectively 'loaned' him to Liverpool (especially bearing in mind some of the players we have purchased with tha money in the meantime). But if we were to spend up to £20m on strengthening, then i think there are better options who would suit our style of play.

    Big Andy did well when we suited our play to match his strengths, but is we were to go with te 4-3-3 we had last season, I can't see where he'd fit (I don't see him ousting Cisse). So if we ae gpoing to spend that kind of money, why do so on somebody who's not likely to start without disrupting the formation / tactics.

    He is my number two striker, because Remy would be my first choice, who else would we get for 20m? Also I think Ashley would only spend 20m on AC, and no-one else, I think his max is 15m, because of the fact that we would have effectively loaned him out for 18 months.

    I think the coaching staff at Newcastle know what he's capable at more than any fan who's watched the games. They'll know if he'll fit in the team, what style of play he's suited to etc.

    If we do bid for him and get him then it'll be because the backroom staff knows he'll be able to do it. We never spend money on anyone now without a plan and this will be no different.

    I agree with this so much my panreas hurts... I hope that's what it is anyway...

    We have been linked with so many wonderful players, the rumour-mill is practically Tash's porn mag! And to be fair, I would prefer every single one above Carroll, but that's my view.

    We would play 4-3-3, upfront we would have Remy-Cisse-Ba, and have carroll as an impact player, forget about the ameobi's!

    I know Carroll probably doesn't see West Ham as a serious option, but isn't his agent Fat Sams partner in crime, a lot of arm twisting from his agent might persuade him to go. Don't care anyway as long as we're not breaking our transfer record to get him it's fine by me

    How do you tell if someone gives you negative rep?

    Also, I have given you rep to compensate :biggrin:

    I've given you rep as well, are you sure Romain hasn't given you neutral rep, he has no rep power yet?

    The little bar next to their rep (in your Control Panel) is either:

    RED = neg rep
    GREEN = positive rep
    GREY = neutral rep (i.e. they didn't have any rep powers when they gave you rep - usually a 'newbie' with zero rep)

    On your control panel, the green ones are positive, the grey ones are negative. Unfortunately, he didn't say why. <laugh>

    Cheers <ok> Can't repay at the mo. (And LTF)

    Funnily enough the system I've seen him produce his best form in and suit the best is 433 for the U21's. Wiltshire and him were great linking up. He prefers the ball on the deck if you ask me. All they did was put pace either side of him and Wiltshire played the advanced role of the three midfielders. It was great to watch football wise.

    I have to agree though, he'd struggle to oust Cisse. We'll have enough games for all of them though. In terms of how we spend our money, I must admit I couldn't care if they sign on a free or cost 20m. That's Mike's problem. Just like the 32m profit we made whilst having our best season was his issue also. I don't really care what we spend on players and don't consider if we got value. Just not a supporters problem. The one thing we can be sure of all said and done is the club won't be getting taken to the cleaners overall whilst he's at the helm.
