Okay, so the news on Twitter is the the Powers That Be of the internet have introduced new monitoring technology which will prevent the watching of games via streams by detecting in game footage. Anyone else heard anything about this?

Yep it is already meant to be in force. I was listening to the guys charged with this task and they do not try to close down streams, only disrupt them (hence slow jumpy footage which many think is down to connection) They made comment that they have new technology at their disposal and fans will soon be sick of the crap footage. Their end message "if you want to watch quality football footage, you have to pay"

However I'm reliably informed by some who couldn't make Saturday that they had the best stream ever bar disruption in the last 3mins <laugh> Full HD. They reckon they downloaded a new version of Sopcast and results were spectacular. Given we were the only team on at that time you'd have expected it to take a hammering.

Obviously I condemned this illegal practice........................<whistle>

So let me get this straight, these companies hire people, at minimum wage at least (so what are we talking £13,000-£15,000 a year a pop), to prevent people watching live sports channels for free, instead of making a "one week" or "one day" pass payment option which would make such streams almost redundant...?

I'm leaning towards Tash's outburst/philosophy on this subject...

Actually scratch the minimum wage malark, they are probably paying some third world workers in used batteries... <doh>

It is absolutely ridiculous. The league is actually paying people to shut down free footage. As a mate said why don't they just introduce season tickets for each club and make a bit of money.

People will always beat them and get round it (these guys who were interviewed admitted as much). I did want to smash the face in of the guy giving the interview as he was taking great pleasure in being a ****. He was like a traffic warden (apologies to any traffic wardens who take no pleasure in their job)

See an article about this the other day and it just said they had the same company doing it last year and cut out so many streams, doubt it's anything to worry about for stream users

Towards the end of last season I had tried to watch a couple of our games via a stream, they were so bad I just gave up, this explains why.

To be honest, I've probably only had one or two decent streams, it gets frustrating if they freeze or start buffering, it's just a case of 'It's better than nothing'.

Haven't Sky got a new bargain package out for £42 a month? Probably get all our games covered there.

Thats the frustrating thing though, I'm a season ticket holder and a Virgin Media subscriber with Sky Sports and ESPN, so who exactly is going to sue me when I'm watching a game not covered by those three? Well, apart from Premier Sports which I can't access so I'll be streaming Atromitos...
