I reckon Rafael may get the no 2 shirt and Ritchie de Laet may replace Brown / Neville as one of the reserve right backs, along with O'Shea. de Laet deserves his chance - he's been pretty immense at Pompey since he joined.

Haven't seen much championship football this year to comment tbh. You don't fancy us dipping into the market to strengthen at the back with a young CB? maybe the likes of Subotic or Carrico?

Phil Jones could be worth a shout though he just added a 1 year extension to a 5 year contract he only signed in May 2010!!! Also on the way back from a bad knee injury but saying that he has great potential.

Well you can never have too many talented youngsters (unless you're Arsenal of course!). A decent young CB would be a bonus for the future, and good cover in case Rio gets injured again. But If we sign a talented young CB they may end up not getting enough game time and may just leave like Pique did. That said, I wouldn't be averse to signing someone like Phil Jones, as long as we loan him back to Blackburn for at least part of the season so he can gain experience.

Agree about the loan. No point in a talented lad staying on the bench or in the reserves. Besides would mean the selling club would be more likely to part company with their player. Mute point though. Can't see us signing him!!

Well we're linked with this lad who can play CB and CM:

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...or-3m-move-to-Old-Trafford-article727995.html

He's still pretty young, so may end up in the reserves and as cover for the first half of the season and then go on loan in the second. But then it is the Mirror, so no guarantee we'll sign him.

Last time we were linked to a target Wenger wanted was Smalling. Could be something in this.

According to the Telegraph Manchester United are ready to pounce for Manuel Neuer because of some row between Schalke and Bayern Munich. SAF said of Neuer that he produced “probably the finest display of goalkeeping against us in my time at Manchester United”.

Utd had been told that Neuer wished for a move to Bayern, so SAF looked at David de Gea and Ajax's Maarten Stekelenburg. However according to the Telegraph Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has warned, that Bayern will not pay an “astronomical” fee for Neuer if Schalke try to cash in on his excellent performance against Utd.

Could be interesting developments a foot in the next few weeks.

You'd hope that we'd have a chance of getting him but to me that doesn't sound so much a row simmering as a club trying to get the best price possible for a player. At the end of the day, these deals are usually player driven and Neuer appears to want that Bayern move. I suspect those 2 clubs will reach an agreement.

De Gaey looks class anyway and is 6 years younger than Neuer. I hope we don't miss out on him by pushing for a transfer that may be out of reach.

Im not sure wether i would want Neuer, he played very well in the away leg but at Old Trafford he made a couple of big mistakes for the goals. He seems to me like a keeper who is capable of making amazing saves, but at the same time is always prone to the odd howler, abit like Barthez or Gomez at Spurs!

We clearly need a new goalkeeper, but i realy dont see an obvious choice, all the best goalkeepers are already at big clubs, and there isnt a standout keeper in Europe playing for a smaller club, that we could temt into signing. as us United supporters know only to well its very hard trying to find a world class keeper, lets just hope we get one whoever he is.

We obviously need a few new faces in midfield also, so who do you guys believe could make a difference and help us close the gap on Barcelona, id like to get Fabregas but thats not going to happen, how about Sneijder or even Modric

Sneijder is top drawer but at 27 (if I'm correct) is maybe just maybe outside the 25 years old and below age range that SAF is usually aiming for these days. However Berb was signed at 27 and Owen was even older. Modric has always been linked with a move to OT and again I wouldn't be too upset at him arriving. Cannot wait till Man Utd sign a top keeper and at hopefully 2 MF's. If the rumours are correct Young could be on his way with Nani possibly leaving. In my opinion that is like for like though without the diving. Haven't a clue about CM but SAF has to get it right. Cannot wait!!!

Usain Bolt's being offered a contract, the rest of the team are being told to boot it over the defence for Usain to run in behind

conctrepe, Nani is not leaving and has confirmed he will be here next season. Won player of the year and will work harder to improve. Now it seems Young is going to Pool and thank goodness to that!!! Young will be 26 and can't even make the England starting line up and is not worth 10m let alone 18m!!!

Nani was gutted at being left out of the starting line-up but is determined to come back stronger next season and show he can be even better. Nani, who has been linked with moves to Spain and Italy, was voted United’s Player of the Year and was a surprise omission.

“Of course I wanted to play in the fi nal because every player wants to play in the fi nal,” he added.

“But you have to respect the decision of the manager. He knows why he did what he did. Of course I want to stay at United, we have a lot of work to do next season.

“It is diffi cult because we have ambition to play every game, to be in the first 11 in a fi nal. But it’s not the players who make the decision, it’s the manager and you have to respect that.

“We had a meeting and then he explained to the players. He met us individually and everyone understood.”

Nani is staying at Utd and from recent interviews he seems very happy here and accepts our managers decisions, the interviews about Berbatov etc show he wants to stay at this club for many years. We don't need average over rated players like Young who have next to no Champions League experience at all. Nani has 3 pl medals and a cl medal and knows the inner workings of Utd as he joined here when he was 19 coming 20 and it would be insane to sell him.

Nolhman in the end I have no problem if Nani stays or leaves. Young in my opinion is no worse or better than him. However Nani needs to be more consistent and worker even harder.

I disagree about Young, he barly starts for England whilst Nani starts for Portugal who have far more talented wingers and is their 2nd best player behind Ronaldo. Nani is also 24 whilst Young will be 26 next month and Nani is also a better player and has far more potential. Young in my opinion is average and the comparison with Nani is ludicrous, Nani has 45 Portugal caps and is just 24 and has started nearly every game for them in the last 2 years and Young has wait for it just 14 England caps with most being off the bench. His competition is Walcott and Lennon, whilst Nani has Ronaldo, Quresma, Danny Simou etc. It is embarrsing to even be linked to Young and to compare such a player is stupid.

We need a destroyer type midfielder in either de rossi or schweinsteiger, maybe defour? and the obvious creative spark in sneijder/modric/pastore possibly gourcuff?

A lot of people saying we need a left footed winger, and imo mata or maybe even ben arfa (fast with a pretty decent shot)

as to keeper, i think de gea's an almost done deal, though i would have preferred stekelnberg

and for the love god no young or rodwell! overrated players!
