Are any of you into books?

I thought I'd create a thread for people to share their favourite reads with fellow posters.

    I'd recommend the following.....

    I love books :emoticon-0100-smile

However not sure my favourites will be of interest to anyone else :emoticon-0102-bigsm as I am really into historical fiction especially around the Tudor and War of the Roses periods, so Philippa Gregory for example (I can feel everyone going <yikes> !)

I do quite like some good thrillers, although at the more popular end of the market, so David Baldacci, Harlan Coben etc,

If there is such a thing as a heaven and I could choose what my personal heaven would be, it would be a massive old library full of all my favourite types of books :emoticon-0111-blush

ACS - The Gaudi Key - is that similar in story/style to The Da Vinci Code? Looks quite interesting actually, might give that a go!

I recommend "The name of the wind" (Parp to give away the fake ending) or anything by Brandon Sanderson, he is just incredible, I want his literary man-babies.

I like to go back and re-read the classics especially Thomas Hardy.
Also like Tess Gerrritsen for modern thrillers, similar to Stephen King.
Just finished reading Gypsy Boy by Mickey Walsh, not the greatest piece of literary work, but a true life, gritty look at what it was like for him growing up as the son of a Gypsy Bare Nuckle Fighting Champion.
Also recently enjoyed reading "even the dogs" by Jon McGregor.

    indeed it is Mrs M.
I read it on a trip to Barcelona and loved it.
I love those types of book.
There's a couple of good historical puzzle writers (fiction) like James Rollins and Steve Berry.

I've read some of Hardy's books, Tess of the D'Urbevilles in particular a couple of times, although I find his writing style a bit tough going!

My favourite book of all time is 'Wuthering Heights'. It took a couple of attempts to get going (we studied it at school) but I've read it several times since. Never get bored of reading that book

Yep Hardy can be hard work because he tends to write in dialogue but you get the hang of it the more you read.
Wuthering Heights is my favourite book also but Far from the Madding Crowd is a close second.
    Great taste Mrs M lol

I read quite a lot, would recommend All Quiet on the Western Front which I read recently, very thought-provoking.

I'm an avid reader and currently reading books from the author Michael Connelly. His book 'The Scarecrow' was an excellent read and I'm currently reading 'The Poet' which so far has also been an absorbing book.

gravity's rainbow eh.Good call ACS. V and The Crying of Lot 49 are good too. Michael Moorcock's London Stories. The Chronicles of Dao by Deng Ming Dao if you like a a good martial arts epic (definitely not a true story though),Trainspotting Irvine Walsh, Kill your friends John Niven very Walshish nastyiness on the music biz, Hunter S Thompson -the great Shark Hunt, On the campaign rail with Mr T and Richard Nixon, ooh I could do this all day if I had time. Books couldn't live without them. What sort of crap world would that be.
