like in cricket comparing bradman with ponting, millar with lillie, so many different eras, too hard and totally pointless, best spinner was warne
I started watching the Swans in 1966. My team since then would be Vorm Rangel - Ante Rajkovic - Ash - Hadziabdic. Callaghan - Ivor - Leon - Leighton James: Curtis - Michu
Some decent teams and encouraging to see that unlike the last few years I have asked this, posters are selecting current squad members. Just shows how far these guys have come and have established themeselves at this level already. Sorry Musty this proves your statement is wrong...these exercises are anything but totally pointless
It's just a bit of fun really, musty. Since when was having fun "pointless"? With regards your "cricket" analogy, Keith Miller was an all-rounder whilst Dennis Lillie was an out and out fast bowler,so no comparison is possible with those two. Warne was indeed the "best spinner". There was an active cricket section on the old BBC606,and I really miss that. Hopefully, the non-cricket fans here will cut me some slack for responding to your cricket reference..
If your in the South Stand then it could well have been me and a few mates. Wife got it for me as a prezzie before Christmas. Good quality too, gonna buy a hoodie though as its too cold just for a tshir!!t (dunno what my missus was thinking). She bought it online from here http://alltime11.com/ Vorm Angel Mel Charles Ash Hadziabdic James Allchurch Britton Jones Curtis Latchford
To be honest I am torn between a few of the current squad and last years with yesteryear's. The guys we have now and last season are playing in a league that is so fast in comparison to 10 years ago let alone 20, 30 40 years ago. Even Caulker I thought about in one selection. What with an England cap ( and 100% scoring record for them) and who knows how many more to come. Who knows if we keep going the way we are what an all time Swans team will look like in 10 years time. I suppose one couldnt go too wrong just by looking at the Legends Wall at the Liberty especially when the other 80 names go up. Thats what I like about these sorts of threads is that it is such a personal choice. So many factors, do you just select those that you have seen playing or do you you take into account what your Dad uncle relative told you about past players etc, amount have appearances, popularity and so on
Thanks for the website info Bap, I am in the South stand so it must have been you that I've seen. I'll call over and say hi next time I see you down there. Just ordered a white hoodie so should be ready for my trip to Everton. Cheers
