Edwin van der Sar will say goodbye to the Premier League on Sunday admitting he faces a difficult 90 minutes against Blackpool. After rejecting numerous pleas from his team-mates to abandon his retirement plans, Van der Sar is due to be handed the captain's armband by Sir Alex Ferguson for his final league game in Manchester United colours. Not normally prone to moments of emotion, the 40-year-old did not even start thinking about the prospect of retirement until a couple of weeks ago. However, the enormity of life away from the stresses and strains of training and matches has now started to sink in, making tomorrow's occasion all the more difficult. Source Good luck to VDS, I wish him all the best for the future. I hope he considers accepting a coaching position if he's offered one.
Dave, I've recently been discharged from hospital, but I'm guessing Ja606 is another newly created alternative forum?
Hizmo, what was wrong with you? How comes you were in hospital? I hope you are fine and not too sick.
We couldn't possibly have expected so much from him when he signed, given his age. Will be sorely missed but never forgotten!
