    right guys thoughts on this matter . do they work .whats happening .ages from 6 years upwards .. surely kids should be knocking on the door. how many have came through from the last 10 years .. taylor ??????

    Carroll, Fraser Forster, Chopra and many more I can't think of ..... So yes they do work but only a very small % graduate to the first team and an even smaller % give a decent service.....

    I think its a bit early to judge our academy. It has certainly not worked previously but this regime, however much malinged, have invested heavily in this area (hence gaining category 1 status). Time will tell.

    there may be a point for our recruitment network as we have definitely let a few fall under our radar. Shearer and Carrick come to mind but i'm sure there's more. However Carroll is an England international, Taylor's on the cusp, Campbell and Fergie look good enough so there is still cause for optimism. We'll probably never see a majority Geordie XI again or anything but i think we will produce a few good uns over the next few years. Especially, as already mention, because we now have category 1 status in a new system
