I think players should get games based on form and impact - last season Gutierrez played so much, yet delivered so little. I'd rather lose defensive cover in favour of attacking flair - it wasn't defensive cover that got us the goal/win yesterday, it was an all out attacking Ben Arfa!

Santon was absolutely amazing defensively vs Fulham, literally nothing came down that flank, so clearly we don't need jonas for his 'defensive qualities'. and what 'defensive qualities' for that matter? how was our defending last season when he started just about every game?

and working hard means **** all when you don't have the quality to back it up. 1 goal and no assists last season says it all, you won't be able to find a winger with a worse contribution than that. ("oh but he's a defensive winger..." NO.)

offers nothing defensively and nothing going forward (oh but how he tries...)

Agree that we rather have Marveaux / Gouffran than Jonas there. His defensive capabilities are overrated. He is a work horse, make no mistake bout it, but he is really a squad player at best. He has regressed too much in recent years, he has lost the kind of pace that saw him put up a monster game against Man Utd in his debut... He has slowed down and is not the player he once was...
