Makes you wonder....what do you think Martinez would look like with Ashley in charge??

Martinez was allowed to bring in the players he wanted, with the Everton board making sure he got the players he wanted. Those signings have had a massive impact on Everton's season.

Not to mention the already superb setup he inherited from David Moyes, retaining the better players and getting stupid money from the ex-gaffer for Fellaini.

Made some great loan signings that have hit the ground running, good work but he won't get to keep them.

When he was asked to build a side at Wigan it didn't end well did it?

I think Shelvey's headbutt will get punished.
Anyone else think he looks like he is wearing a plastic bank robbers mask?

You're not far wrong there. In four years he made a decent Wigan side progressively worse and ultimately relegated them. He's had a good start at Everton but it won't last.

Yeah well you know I don't want it to sound like I'm on his case – because he's doing great with Everton thus far, better than I expected tbf.

I'm sure he can organise sides and has an admirable philosophy for football, but I do think some are quick to forget the legacy David Moyes left for him at Everton. Particularly now the knives are out for Moyes at United.

Moyes created a culture for winning really and a spine of a tough team to beat – credentials that got him the United job.

The big test for Martinez is the transfer windows, whether players still have an eye on the door because I'm sure Everton will sell at the right price.
What money will he get back to reinvest and who can he realistically attract when the loan signings expire?

When he's forced to reshape Everton into a long-term Martinez team is where we'll see his abilities tested.

Not coming on to have a go as we've had some great battles v Newcastle in the last few years; but sometimes, men, you just have to suck it up and accept you played a team that, on the night, took you apart. Had the home team been Man U, Citeh, Chelsea or Arsenal the media boys would have been purring all the way to the edit. Much is being made of the 'penalties' but let's be honest one was a dive (at the other end deGuzman had his legs taken from under him - an actual foul - in the box and no penalty given) and the other had the ball hammered at a player who was turning away. Shelvey was a bit naughty but we had put up with a series of straight on studs up tackles and players being scythed down from behind. But for a few raids and ten minutes in the second half Newcastle were completely outplayed.

Fella, watch the slow motion replay of Shelvey's headbutt.... even Stevie Wonder can see what happened.
It was clear and blatant and would, in all cases usually attract a red card.
I don't dispute that you played better and deserved to win, but if the ref had seen your MOTM's assault, it would have been bye bye.
    I still expect retrospective action.

I think 3-0 flattered you. In fact, in the first half you were a boring team to watch. I hate the 'keep the ball' style and you sometimes fail to realise that simply keeping the ball doesn't win you games. Had you not scored in the 47th I think it would have been different.

We were comfortably beaten in the end and I don't mind admitting it, but you had luck firmly on your side tonight. Not too concerned with this result, it happens. You clearly caught us on an off day.

By the way - if you're looking for congratulations (which I assume you are) then it won't come from me. What exactly is the point of this thread? I enjoy reading my own board on the back of a good win?

Im not Overly disappointed we won 4 on the bounce.
Still not seen the highlights but a few things I questioned:

Playing the exact same 11 that played Saturday. Including Ameobi. Form or no form he played 90 minutes saturday, Pards must have known that Swansea would have had most of the ball and we would be chasing a lot. Why not rotate the squad a little especially when we have players like Anita fit who will run all day.

Playing 442. Really? Against a team playing no strikers? Who keep the ball and pass the ball a lot?! We were always going to get over run in midfield.

    Substitutions. No explanation needed really.

No congratulations expected but your recognition that we deserved the win is appreciated and honest (we plyed really well at Man City but they deserved to win).
The comment I would continue a discussion over (if face to face and with time) "in the firsts half you were a boring team to watch. I hate the 'keep the ball' style and you sometimes fail to realise that simply keeping the ball doesn't win you games." is quite common and a belief held by some our fans .. but it suits us and done for at least 7 seasons. It tends to be more boring if it's your team that doesn't have the ball!
Anyway, I enjoyed the game and you look odds on for a Europa league place - happy days.

    My sentiments exactly.

Oh well back to reality. Surely Pardew must make some changes for Man U.

It's good job Cabaye and Sissoko didn't pick up yellows in this match.

No need to go overboard, it doesn't change we're having a decent season and Pards has done well. It was a just a bad night at the office all round. One we have to try and bounce back from quickly.

EDIT: "Meh" in the title. I am so disppointed in you ACS
