How much have these players been forced on GFZ? The Italian players are totally struggling and the wily championship (British) players have Sussed them completely. Relegation fight looms unless we get good quality in!
Anyone for a striker or two? I say give the youth a chance, then we simply MUST bring in recognised striker or two in the transfer window! Otherwise we will be looking up the table for the rest of the season
How some people do not think. The idiot who asked for Hollowhead obviously was not a fan last season as otherwise he would know the sour grapes hollowhead had against us and how he slated our business model. I would not employ some one who was so against me so recently dum does not do justice to that "fan"
How did it come to this, after start to the season that seemed to promise so much? At what point did it start to go wrong and at what point began to look more than a "blip".? We seemed to lose confidence after the defeat by Norwich, when we gave away a two goal lead; the blip became a crisis after Yeovil. I think Zola deserves 5 more games to get 7 points, but if he misses that target-- he is no longer the man for the job, at least not with these players.
I seem to recall talk about how good this squad is, and this has proved not to be the case. Yes, we have been found out tactically, but also the squad is not good enough.
Agree with you for a change!! I think he should get a decent assistant too and ffs get a Captain on the turf!!
Funny how at the start of the season lots of people and some in national press were saying Zola for Chelsea, or west ham or please marry my daughter but now the silence is deafening.
Over the years I have realised that football is a game of opinions. Time for GT to go I remember clearly once things didn't go so well in the Prem. George Kirby was beset by injuries for virtually a whole season and his record looks dreadful. Bassett was just plain awful, yet in his day elsewhere was successful. Managers come and go, sometimes fairly and others without being given a chance simply because of the money involved these days. After two decent enough results against good sides away from home I suspect that everyone's expectations were raised for today and the fact that with so many social media sites around now people do not stop and think of the alternatives, they just repeat what they have read. Let's bring in a different manager who has no experience of the Championship, the most likely if GFZ throws in the towel. Let's bring in a manager who has that experience but is not used to having a technical director who provides players and expects you to make a team out of them. None of the Pozzo teams are setting the world alight this season, that suggests to me that their current pool of players is not A1. Cheap to employ, seeking fitness, need game time, doesn't make for a team capable of winning a league in any country. If you are lucky, and I believe we were last year, something happens that makes you believe. However your chances of repeating that luck doesn't follow, and why should we expect differently? Instant mash, Instant Whip, Instant Messaging, Instant Promotion. Give things time and reflect on the alternatives before seeking instant solutions.
Not much to add here. Hopeless stuff again. Lost the game thanks to Bond in a sense as he was in the wrong place for the free kick - it was nowhere near the corners. However that masks some awful stuff in trying (failing) to attack and who plays 4-5-1 for that long when losing at home? Then there was Anya moving to left back with minutes left? Zola has a lot to do to get back from here and I'm not sure he can do it I'm afraid.
I know it's only December but it's looking increasinlgy like we may have to write off the season and already start looking to next season - and that starts with the January window. As an aside am i the only one amused by people whose team are top of the league tonight and seem to be more preoccupied with us than with their own team?
From BBC: Watford boss Gianfranco Zola: "We tried to do something different, just to play one striker less and to have a more balanced team. We created some chances but they weren't enough. "What is the real problem? I don't know. We are not going through a good moment in terms of confidence because we produce chances but it's difficult for us to score. "And when they (the opposition) attack, they do it once and then they score so that certainly doesn't help the confidence of the players. That is what is creating a lot of pressure with the players and everyone. "I know football is about results and results are more important than anything. I understand that and I'll see what is the best thing to do."
Granada are in 10th Watford are in 13th Udinese are in 14th in their respective leagues. Maybe just not the year for the Pozzos?
