I'm sure that Gerrard and Lampard have similarly stellar numbers. Point is that those numbers apply almost exclusively to the Premier League. I think it's possible to learn how to become an effective Premier League player, without necessarily learning how to become a great footballer. Cesc needs to move abroad to see the bigger picture, or else he'll end up just like Gerrard and Lampard (minus the guaranteed place in his national team).
I only used statistics to prove my point, if you don't think Fabregas is an excellent, creative (rather than effective) footballer then you haven't watched him enough. He is absolutely nothing like Lampard.
He can't be any good - Barca (and Spain) celebrated winning the World Cup with him in their shirt. They clearly don't want him - chasing us for years, by successive Barca officials. Its a strange Spanish pastime- waste years hassling indifferent players.
Lol you really think that's what happened? United just 'gave' Pique back on the cheap out of the goodness of their hearts? No, more like Fergie just didn't realise how good he was going to be.
You will never get £45-50m for Fabregas. There are three reasons for this: 1. He's injured 40% of the time. In each of the last 3 seasons he's played around 35 out of a possible 60 or so games. 2. Much like the Spain team, he will be behind Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets in the pecking order. His role will be peripheral at Barcelona, similar to Mascherano's. 3. A player like Fabregas is nothing 'special' to Barcelona. They have plenty of talented midfielders who come through the ranks. Thiago Alcântara at the recent U-21 tournament is a good example of this. They would be crazy to spend £45-50m on Fabregas. They are blessed with quality in midfield, why would they spend all that money on a player who won't actually improve their starting XI?
The reason Barcelona aren't offering daft money is because they know Fabregas will only go to them so they have no rivals for his signature and so, therefore do not have to up the bid. How much Andy Carroll or anyone else cost is completely irrelevant. You essentially nabbed him off them on the cheap in the first place and now they will do likewise, the difference being you'll make a 30 MILLION profit whilst you're at it.
This is all true but doesn't mean Arsenal have to sell on the 'cheap'. Given the bad blood between the Spanish giants at the moment and given Madrid are prepared to pay 40 odd million for Neymar, who wouldn't improve them significantly (given the attacking talent already at Madrid), why are Madrid not putting in a 40 million bid for Fabregas??? I think Arsenal would take this and it would really piss Barca off. Everyone's a winner!! Whether he would go to them or not is another matter of course.
They spent £20 million on a 4th choice CB before selling him back for half the price. They swapped their best striker for 45 million + Ibrahimovic. This is obviously a club that pays over the odds for players so really they should be offering a lot more for him.
Aye but remember they are 'skint'. They can 'only' bid for Neymar, Sanchez and Fabregas at a combined total of over 100 million!!!
