Who would want them on loan? Can't see a club in the top 2 divisions wanting them, Bassong in particular would not want to go lower and even if they were interested in going lower the Club could only afford to pay a small proportion of their wages leaving them on our wage bill and using up a section of our wage budget. We need them sold quickly but that might be easier said than done even if we were prepared to let them go for free.
With all the stories and rumours flying about I can't see him being here next Tuesday. Do we need him? It still leaves us with Lafferty, Grabban, Jerome, Bennett, Redmond, Loza and the Murphy twins for the 3 forward roles plus Becchio if we can't get rid of him.
I think he is our best striker but if he doesn't want to stay like Fer sell him, nobody is bigger than the club. We paid about £5m so if we can make a couple on top of that then take the cash.
There's got to be some interest in Bassong, Becchio and Bunn, surely? Bunn is far from a bad 'keeper, and before us Becchio was banging them in for Leeds. Hopefully someone will panic in the last few days (or hours ) and be in desperate need of a Striker/Centre Back/'Keeper, and take them off us.
I've been one who liked LB and thought he'd got a raw deal so far, but in those 12 mins or so he got on Tuesday he looked pants ! No pace, didn't win any headers and looked generally lost out there! I think unless a league 1club comes in we're stuck with him?
'@NorwichCityFC BREAKING | #NCFC sign highly-rated young midfielder Conor McGrandles (@McGrandlesConor) from @falkirkbairns.' http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/arti...cgrandles-signs-for-norwich-city-1879730.aspx
Happy with that. Holt will know him better than anyone, and it looks like he's fairly versatile. There's a video on youtube of a lovely lobbed finish he produced. I've got a feeling Surman might be heading back to Bournemouth. Hopefully we can delay the move enough that he can't play against us.
Very pleased with the developments on VOE and Conor McGrandles, one for now one for the future. Frederik Sorensen would round things off nicely, or am I being greedy?
If those remaining transfers come off, and we somehow shift those hefty wages in our reserves, I will be incredibly happy with how this transfer window has gone. McGrandles being a record transfer for Falkirk doesn't really mean a lot to us - their previous record was £500k back in 1995.
Would think he's a straight replacement in the squad for Pilkington, rather than with a view to selling anyone. Welcome Conor!
Just had a look on a Falkirk forum and they reckon the fee is around £1m, or something like £850k plus add-ons. Someone claiming to be in the know reckons closer to £500k, only just a transfer record. Some other feelings: -Disappointed to be losing their best, and most creative player. -"He’s got bags of potential, a fantastic attitude and his work rate is unreal" -Sounds like he's not the strongest, but puts himself about regardless. -Never flustered or pushed off the ball easily. Classy player.
Yeah I was there, but didn't feel it was fair to judge him on that performance really. A Surman-Bennett central midfield pairing was never going to work, as neither were suited to the defensive role they were asked to play. They're not used to it, and don't have the attributes to play the role. I think in a more attacking midfield role, with appropriate cover behind him, he can still do a job for us.
Signed up to a Falkirk forum to try and find out a bit more about him, got these responses: Sounds like the cover/long-term replacement for Hoolahan we've been looking for. Just hope he isn't another Butterfield and we never see him. On another note, they didn't seem too impressed by Holt as a manager, and apparently nobody was sad to see him go. Whether he's better as a number two remains to be seen.
