Last seasons stunning january capture david ngog just cost us half a million quid in bonus payments to bolton, coz we retained our premier league status.i must have missed his outstanding contribution during his 3 sub appearances. ?.well done michael

I thought he was HJ's signing,ML had never heard of him! Sounds a lot of money for a player who only played a few minutes for us. N'Gog was rubbish for Bolton in the Championship and they couldn't wait to get him off the payroll.I don't know what HJ expected from him for that kind of money and high wages, but he inevitably did not deliver.Add on at least 500k in wages, making it more than £1m down the drain.

Just shows how nobody gets everything right all the time. We're only human. No surprise that Laudrup wrongly gets it in the neck yet again though.

At the risk of another Laudrup bitchfest (probably going to happen anyway), what I said was that people are only human and make mistakes. You specifically mentioned Luadrup in the OP as being to blame for the Ngog debacle. You're wrong - it's simple as that.

As for Bony it's my understanding that he was brought in by the Board and Laudrup sanctioned it as he was someone he could work with. But We all agree neither Schechter nor Vasquez were up to much.

It could be argued that because of Laudrup bringing in poor ( and I mean poor )back up strikers , the need to bring in a back up striker was needed as insurance . Bony carried the load till the end and n'gog wasnt needed .

This does cant on my nerves with the club sometimes. They penny pinch over some things and spunk away 500k on a player who was only evergoing to be 3/4th choice .

Arnt they making something like just 10k for those crowd facing advertising hoardings? Piss off front viewing fans to make a few quid but throw a fortune away on a player Bolton have been trying to give away for ages !

I actually thought n gog was worth a punt but paying 500k plus big wages for the privilidge is just daft .

Anyway, all done and dusted, like the priskin deal money down the drain . hindsight is a wonderful thing !

    The way I see it;

Bony - Was on a list of striker targets....some were identified by Larsen, some by the club....Laudrup approved some and the board tried to make them happen. It is my hunch that Laudrup's preferred choices were Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Befetimbi Gomis but Bony was also a player he had given the ok too. The board negotiated but found Aubameyang and Bony's price too be a bit rich for them (despite the fees involved being "within agreed budgets" according to Laudrup)....they spent a good deal of time trying to sign Gomis (because he was a cheaper transfer fee) but Gomis wasn't prepared to be shipped about at the whim of his chairman (who wanted him gone as he was in his last year and it was their final chance to make some money on him). I believe during the course of negotiations Gomis and his agent indicated that they would be prepared to sign for us on a free a year later if his wage demands/signing on fee/agent's fee was met.
Meanwhile Laudrup was voicing his frustration that a striker had not yet been signed and was putting pressure on the board with his comments to the press....this led to the Bony signing towards the end of the summer window for a fee that the board were uncomfortable with......just my opinion.

Vazquez - Was a Laudrup signing identified by Larsen as a young, pacy, striker with potential...as backup!....people forget that as far as Laudrup was concerned he was going into the season with the option of starting Bony or Michu up front. Vazquez was never meant to get so much game time....he was back up and an alternative pacy substitute from the bench.

Ngog - was obviously a board signing. I seem to remember someone who claimed to be in the know stating that Monk was consulted before the board made this signing during the January window. We didn't sign anyone that Laudrup wanted that January. IMO the relationship had broken down by then.

Schecter - I am not sure about actually. Seem to remember that when we signed him on loan there was stuff in the Post about us tracking him for some time. Laudrup was quite prepared to use him though, so I wouldn't argue that he wasn't one identified by Larsen....don't know.

Don't be ridiculous - the signing didn't work and it has cost us money ... it had to be evil Laudrup's fault.

Can't we tell Bolton that we got relegated (the current league tables are in error) and therefore we can pay them nothing. That would be a far more consistent approach to paying other clubs what they are 'due'.

So,let me get this straight. The Club benefits to the tune of some £90,000,000.00,and you are quibbling about a £500,000.00 payment to Bolton?

Actually,Laudrup was not involved with N'Gog's signing, but, hey, don't let the truth get in the way of your continued determination to undermine the Manager who took the Club to it's "stunning" top ten finish in the P.L.

Oh,and not to forget the "stunning" acquisition of the Capital One Cup,and a subsequent very successful, and "stunning", European adventure.

So,it's indeed very appropriate to say,"Well done Michael".

"Well done",OP, for getting something right. <laugh><laugh>

It's just one of those things. The board obviously thought it was appropriate at the time, and that's when they had to make the decision. Some things like that go in our favor and so go against us. You can't get everything right. And judging in hindsight isn't always a good thing because it just doesn't help. Every man and his dog "knew" what they would have done after the event, but they never mention it at the time. Maybe they expected him to play more games and help us avoid relegation, in which case you'd all be saying what a great deal. No-one could tell in advance whether he'd score the goal that kept us up. What you think now is just based on what's happened, so doesn't make much sense. If Bony had got injured first match and was still out, you'd all be saying what a waste of money he was.

    Let ME tell you.

Laudrup had nothing to do with the signing of N'Gog.
Jenkins,in an attempt to undermine Laudrup, made the decision.

Another stroke of genius from your ex friend.<laugh><laugh><laugh>

with some of the 90 mill why isn't the stadium being expanded or is it a council thing. if so I would have thought a council would want a larger stadium

I think a few of us were mystified at being linked with this turkey before the deal was done, not sure who was responsible, but it was a complete waste of money and maybe the club accountant said we had to waste a Million? better wasting it on a turkey than the taxman aye!.............<ok>

PS: That Laudrop has a hell of a lot to answer for, or was it the Tut!......................<laugh>
