Just so I'm right on this... is this the same Sam Allardyce who said he was good enough to manage Barcelona?

That's the one. He'd have got there too if Mike hadn't messed up his stepping stone.

True story.................well according to Sam anyway.

Oh yeah and he wishes he'd quashed the long ball merchant stuff at the outset. He should have just rang when he was up here, I could have helped him with that. The conversation would have went like this:

"They are all accusing me of being a long ball merchant, I'm sick of it. What can I do to make it stop?"
"Stop asking our centre halfs to launch 60 yard bombs to Owen and Martins would be a start you oversized arrogant gargoyle"

Still my most unhappy period supporting the club. I know a lot of lads who had went for 20 plus years who stopped going until he was gone. People moan about Pards and it has had some unbelieveable lows. But that period between November and January under him is the worst football I'd witnessed. And I include the relegation in 88-89. It was just painful and absolutely mind bogglingly moronic at times.

"Phil Jagielka, Branislav Ivanovic and Luka Modric"

Well that's clearly WHY he was fired. Insipid, woeful football doesn't seem to be high on the firing agenda for wor Mike, but having expectations of him spending money or not selling our best players is!!!

I bet poor Chris Hughton probably only asked for a parking space <wah>

He asked but Mike refused. Instead Mike simply put him on a economics degree course. It was successful in two ways. It helped Chris understand the need to sell everything. And he also got a Metro Student Season Ticket.

Does make you wonder with Big Sham. Ashley must be kicking himself. Not only did we miss out on selling Luke Modric for £30m, but he had the perfect 'bore-your-way-to-17th' manager in charge who also has skin thicker than an Ebola-proof hazmat suit.

Didn't Keegan say that Modric came to Newcastle for talks and he was keen on signing but Tony Fernandez or some other member of the 'cockney mafia' came in to the meeting and said he's not good enough for the Premier League or too lightweight or something, so we never ended up signing him?

The phrase "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" was coined after Big Sam Allardyce ate the last unicorn.
True story ......... well according to Sam anyway.

"Stop asking our centre halfs to launch 60 yard bombs to Owen and Martins would be a start you oversized arrogant gargoyle" This!

Still my most unhappy period supporting the club. and this!

There is no doubt in my mind that Allardyce set us on the road to relegation. It was the bleakest ever period of my supporting Newcastle. Even when we have been ****, there was hope. There was none under this fat headed oaf.

I'm a bit suspicious of this. As Modric moved in 2008 and Jagielka moved to Everton in 2007, who had European football at the time.
