Well I've lived in Newcastle and I think it's ****ing weird, thank god they've got students from around the country otherwise it would be like a city scale of Royston Vasey from the League of Gentlemen. Can't comment on Sunderland as I only go for matches. Strangest place I've ever been is Sherburn in Elmet, ****ing backwards.
Sombrero man, you're getting completely the wrong end of the stick for some reason. How can it be an attack on Newcastle when the area inhabited by 'Geordies' isn't confined to Newcastle? The bloke I'm talking about lives further from Newcastle than you do and further than Newcastle is from Sunderland. And I specifically said it wasn't to do with Newcastle. How, and when, did I insult you by saying, "I don't know what you mean".
That's what makes me laugh about Brucie, people born in Sunderland before John Hall changed the rules are more Geordie than he'll ever be. Sunderland is certainly deeper in geordie heartland than ****ing Corbridge.
We were all Geordies when fighting in two world wars, and no matter what todays mammies boys say they will not change that
In this case you are Somb, which is a shame. I specifically said that it isn't anti-NUFC 'this time' ....... that's me being honest enough to admit that it often is. I have very close family, in the Tyne valley, who are committed Geordies. I've no idea why you're so desperate to take offence, it's not about Newcastle of NUFC, I can't say any more.
I I'm not taking offence at all. I "perhaps" wrongly, thought this was a dig at Newcastle. I'm not that fussed either way tbh. No harm done. I'm just rejoicing in the fact that we played half decent for half an hour.
Sorry mate, there's no perhaps about it. "This one wasn't a football supporter and I know there are many Sunderland supporting Geordies so it's not an anti-NUFC thing this time."
OK, you're not going to let this lie. What's your point? Some farmer talking Geordie? Or Jimmy Naill? I'm lost.
Mackem isn't derogatory if anything is recognition of out engineering skill it's like any word it can be derogatory in the mouths of small minded people
I have let it lie Somb, I'm just saying I specifically stated it wasn't to do with Newcastle or NUFC ...... there's no perhaps that's all. As I've said 'Geordie' isn't exclusive to Newcastle.
It is. Ask anyone in your area over 50. I've got red and white mates my age who hate being called mackem.
It is well known that a fellah named Thesaurus was a Geordie who married a lass called Hyperbole who come from Harlepool and their bairns could argue forever.
I've never heard us sing "we hate geordies". Heard some of the geordie SAFC fans start a chant of "geordie" and getting drowned out by the reply "mackems", but the only "hate" chant is for Newcastle. Mind you, I don't go that often these days do maybe it's cropped up?
Smug Sorry about your experiences. We are not all like that and also we are not geordies we are Northumbrians and proud of it. It's only those further south who tag us as geordies. Nowt wrong though with letting the world know how brilliant gods wonderful county is but only if people are interested
'We hate Geordies clap your hands'? Nah mate, I've never heard that one. I've heard 'if you hate Newcastle clap your hands.'
Sting is a twat - My mate went to school with his Sister - we were all out in Newcastle when she (Stings sister) shouted of "sting" and called him Gordon and he went off it at her - his exact words "Only Mother calls me Gordon - you call me Sting" - Prick!!
