Not from the drop. Not the pride of the team - I do actually think they have some. Will the pride of wealthy owners prevent us from a the dark descent into League Whichever? I do hope so. I am counting on the hope that men like Fernandes, Bhatia, Reuben and Mittal don't like being associated with failure and so will put together another decent Championship side next season. Another day at Wembley anyone?!
good point! the losses we have made and the proposed fine is pocket money for Mittal.. the problem has been getting a manager they have the confidence and trust to back..
Was musing about my poor old QPR on way home and this was the only thought I could think of to cheer me up a little.
I Dnt get this thread? Will pride save us ? Have I missed something ? What in the **** have we done to be proud of !? Ffs
If we had a single owner of enough wealth to cover it (it would be a fair chunk of TF's personal fortune for example) then I'd say yes but I think it's probably nullified by the huge expenditure so far and the prospect of one owner looking like they're begging the others to split the bill - pride would count against us at that stage. Ambition may still produce a spending spree but I think it starts getting hollow if we perpetually have to buy the Championship just to get the riches of the Premiership (which we seem to piss up the wall anyway). Sensible wages and investment in infrastructure would be my dull preference.
Read the OP. It's referring to whether the reputation of our owners will ensure they prevent us sinking down through the divisions. It's a fair point, assuming they continue to be our owners. You have to factor the FFP unknown in. The reason the Mittals are rich is they are not stupid. They may well object to paying a huge fine.
Yeah, like the pride which kept Caterham going, and the pride which enabled Mittal to buy Irish Steel from the government for a knockdown $1m and close it 3 years later making 400 people redundant and also refusing to clean up the **** it dumped in Cork harbour. Mittal has an estimated $13.5bn, down from $69bn in 2008 (when he was the third richest person in history). Fernandes has an estimated $530m, down from $650m just a year ago. They are comfy, but on the wane.
£55.5 bn down in 7 years takes some doing, must have either bought some nucleur warheads or paid off Taarabt's Kentucky bill !!
All this speculating about what the owners will do is a waste of time. For a start the better players, Charlie, Fer, Green will be sold, as will any others that can raise a fee and the veterans will retire leaving us with a shell of a team facing a transfer embargo. Not a pretty prospect at all. I can't see Mittal staying on board and you wonder whether TF will reconsider his position, they can't keep writing off multi millions, their problem is who would be mad enough to buy the club? As usual, Bernie and Flav showed how it is done to extract the max, an object lesson in hard-nosed business. All we've had is promises on the stadium and training ground and I'm beginning to tire of the bullsh*t...
It's quite shocking to see what paying ShaunWrightPhillips to wash all the players cars for years has done to their savings :O
I'll PM you my bank details - I'll expect the first of my seven annual payments of 7.8billion within 2-4 working hours.
What's a billion between friends?! More seriously, I wonder if there is the collective will and financial know how and clout for the club to be run by fans if we are facing ruin?
Look at what Hearts are doing in Scotland, an excellent model. However, it depends on 8,000 fans contributing on a monthly basis. Given that we have 10,000 season ticket holders and only 2,000 at most could be arsed to click on the Club's original Old Oak survey I somehow doubt that QPR fans have the inner resolve and desire. We want to have our cake and eat it. Besides, who would we blame when we lost?
