HELP TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF F1 As Formula 1 drivers, we love and admire this sport. We share the feelings of fans who get excited about the purity of man and machine as we compete against the law of physics and, of course, the stopwatch. Without fans, Formula 1 would be nothing: which is why the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) wants to know more about you and what you think about the sport. We believe this Global Fan Survey will give us a unique opportunity to understand how we as drivers, and F1 as a whole, can do more for you. The GPDA's slogan is #RACINGUNITED, and that is what we believe is needed in the future. Whether we are drivers, involved with teams, or just fans, we are all united in wanting F1 to become even more exciting. Your opinions will help us do that. So thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey and joining the GPDA community: #RACINGUNITED http://gpda.motorsport.com/ Love the effort Kimi put in for the group photo. If doing that hasn't exhausted your will to have opinions about Formula 1, Autosport are doing their completely unconnected survey too. Strange timing. Anyway, here's their one if you have any opinionating left in you. It's a bit less gruelling than the GPDA one. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/119058 I did both. Hear me roar.
It didn't ask about distribution of money across the teams. (Or maybe I've forgotten about that question as my brain is fried.) Maybe the most telling question (for me) was the one about picking 5 words that describe F1. With all the positive & upbeat words on offer, I was surprised at how jaded my choices were. And yes, I did include "corrupt".
Marlboro and West for me in the Sponsors category. My mind went utterly blank. I think there was a question about equal distribution of money?
The fact of some I said Marlboro too!, do you think they will bring back cigarette advertising if enough people say it lol
Red bull didn't even cross my mind, think of them purely as a team in f1 not a brand, oops. Can't remember who I pit now actually. All current ones anyway.
I thought of Marlboro first, and then realised they're not current. Then Red Bull but excluded them because they're a constructor rather than sponsor. Then West, and realised I couldn't even be sure whether they were still involved. Then I couldn't remember if Tag or Rolex are current sponsors. likewise Agip. Then my mind wandered to how I always liked the Gulf Racing livery in other motorsports, but they'd probably look crap on an F1 car. Eventually I finally remembered Santander and Martini, and a couple of others. It's good to see that all those big sponsorship dollars are having such a memorable impact.
Most potential sponsors are out priced off prime spots on the cars. Is that another issue for F1? If F1 is a marketing platform and sponsors make the cars more iconic yet they can't afford the demands teams put on advertising space on cars (ahem McLaren) because they need large sums of money to compete then isn't this a bit idiotic? I blame the sports promoter. Also in a related point I actually agreed with Christian Horner for once yesterday when he said teams should not make the rules. FOM should stick to promoting and the FIA should stick to making the rules.
Same here. My wife immediately said Petronnas and Ing which I thought we're interesting. I went for; Fosters Santander Hugo Boss Tag Mobil
