Surprised to see this before Christmas http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/...30/sky-bet-go-nrnb-on-the-cheltenham-festival
Done my second ante post bet on Josies Orders to win Cross Country at 5/1.After two C&D wins in a row, with the brilliant Nina Carbary on board and the fact they will be racing off level weights in March JO has a terrific chance of a landing the hatrick.I can see him going off 2/1 on the day.
Was very impressed with Bellshill yesterday, apart from the 3rd last I thought he was very slick over his hurdles and doesn't look short of pace. As usual tho he'll prob be entered in all 3 Novice hurdles and there's no way Willie Mullins will tell us anything that isn't a lie as usual
There was much to like about the fencing debut of Black Hercules in the Drogheda Beginners Chase at Navan. Formerly a smart bumper horse and beaten just once over hurdles when seventh in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March, the Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old tracked Marlbrook before being left in front after six out as the leader slithered to a halt on landing and was pulled up. The race was effectively over from there, with the Ruby Walsh-ridden 8-15 favourite jumping particularly well and coming home 12 lengths clear of stablemate Sambremont. RaceBets cut the winner to 18-1 from 25-1 for the RSA Chase. Mullins said: "He did that nicely. He jumped well and I particularly liked the way he quickened after he saw Danny (Mullins, on Sambremont) on his tail. He gave him a squeeze after the second-last and he quickened. "He won't go anywhere over Christmas. There is a Grade Two at Leopardstown in January that's a possibility. "He needs more match practice and hopefully keeps improving. I'd say he'll be an RSA horse, but we want to get a couple of runs into him before Cheltenham. "Sambremont ran a cracker and I'd imagine he's coming into four-mile territory. He's a real staying chaser." Time will tell!
Taken an utter antepost shot in the dark on a novice I wanted to see progress this season- BE DARING for Paul Nicholls. He is entered in a Catterick bumper tomorrow with a Ferguson hotpot but I think he is a good deal better than that. He was a staying on 2nd on debut last season to a horse called STAR TROUPER, who was beaten narrowly by Mister Miyagi, who has previously beaten some decent sorts in DRUMLEE SUNSET and NEWSWORTHY. He's 7/2 for the bumper and I'm all over it, but he does have hurdle entries at Ludlow and Newbury later in the week if he misses this engagement here. He reminded me an awful lot of his fellow Dom Alco -Al Ferof when I saw his debut. He has to improve loads but I can see that happening at some point.
Apparently has had a chest infection ‘but is now back in full work’. Won’t run again though before January. If they do, at that point go chasing, he will have a pretty truncated novice campaign prior to Cheltenham.
After reading reports he is back in the Philip Hobbs yard have had just got BALTHAZAR KING - 13/2 for for the XC chase will surely go off shorter and is an absolute professional going over these fences, great to see him back and they will surely build his confidence up for this race! Cheltenham are made for stories like this and JOSIES ORDERS will be no match for the KING of the XC
Coneygree is out for a while with a new injury...!!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/35110989 Will be a big shame if not able to make it back to Cheltenham next year...
Coming back from broken ribs will be tough, it was touch and go whether the horse would make it so I'm not sure at the horses age he will come back and have full enthusiasm for the game. I'd still much rather back JO
Sounds to me like they have been rushing Coneygree for both the Hennessey and Christmas? Hope he is okay and fingers crossed for March but does not look great for this season.
Getting closer to the 2 big trials, is it sad im looking forward to them more than xmas itself? I think Giggingstown hold all the cards at present. Don Cossack looks the 1 to beat for the KG and they have a very capable 2nd string in Valseur Lido. Then over in the Lexus they have Don Poli with Sir Des Champs in the 2nd colours, i think Don Poli will improve as the season goes on and wont be 100% until the big 1 would love to see SDC going close.
Taking a bit of a risky punt on Native River 20s Ew for the RSA Hoping he can put on a bold show tomorrow. If Vatour doesn't see out the trip the the 11/4 for the Ryan Air could be a snip, will have to get on quickly with that one
This time Tomorrow we will see a clear favourite for the gold cup in March (hopefully anyway!) people will be happy with ante post tickets and others will be ripping them up
Native River very disappointing.I've snapped up 11/4 for Vatour, screaming Ryanair after getting chinned by Cue Card.Mullins sounded dissapointed and 'Well leave him in for the Gold Cup anyway' doesnt sound like he'll end up there
