please log in to view this image Saturday 19th December 3pm St Mary's Stadium Premier League The unbeaten record's gone and the team's had most of the week to recoup and recover. Pochettino will be looking for a big reaction to that performance and result against his old club. They'll be highly motivated to get something from this one too, so it could have a bit of an edge to it. No midweek game for us this time, so there'll be no excuses available if the team looks jaded. Given the number of changes that we made for the Monaco game, I don't think that was any part of the poor Newcastle performance, though. A few players missing shouldn't have damaged us that badly and I expect an improvement on Saturday. Last season's fixture saw us go behind to Graziano Pelle goals twice, evening up the score on both occasions. Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli scored with our only shots on target, despite having tons of possession. Sadio Mane put in a disgraceful performance, IIRC, diving and fouling all over the place. He's a very dangerous player, but some of his behaviour's appalling. Lineups for the last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Carroll; Lamela, Alli, Eriksen; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Bentaleb, Onomah, Chadli, Son. League form: WDWDDL. Southampton: Gazzaniga; Van Dijk, Fonte, Yoshida; Soares, Wanyama, Romeu, Bertrand; Mane, Davis; Long. Subs: Davis, Martina, Clasie, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Pelle, Juanmi. League form: WWLLDL. Referee: Kevin Friend. Do we need to make any changes to personnel from the last game or adjust the system? Are any of our returning players fit enough to start this one, going by their performances? Does anyone look like they're in dire need of a rest or should the lack of midweek games help?
N'Jie certainly won't feature - he's injured his knee ligaments according to Poch, so that's probably him out until late February at the earliest.
Not just nice, but a necessity, really. 9 wins from 19 games and 35 points on the board isn't too shabby, especially having only lost 2. But we're Spurs. I'll be amazed if we pick up 9 points out of 9!
Saints fans have made this somewhat of a rivalry since we snatched Poch so I'm predicting a tough game against an for it Soton team. Both teams need a win to get their season back on track so I'm hoping for a good game, with obviously us coming out on top. Lloris Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose Dier, Dembele Son, Lamela, Chadli Kane Vorm, Tripps, Davies, Alli, Bentaleb, Eriksen, Onomah Alli looked flat against Newcastle and I was amazed he stayed on the pitch, we're going to need to rotate the side over the next couple of weeks so I'd bring Chadli in for a start over him for this one. Eriksen has also been really poor, probably the worst he played for the club since joining so I'd give Son a chance to hopefully find his pre-injury form.
Really impressed me with his energy and work rate against Monaco and now he's out for bloody ages. Typical.
In poor form? We lose 1 game in 15 and that counts as us being in poor form? It might be for your lot but for us it's a premier league record!
Davies in for the continually error-prone Rose - other than that just hope that Dembele is back. We need a 3 point recovery today to get the bandwagon rolling again. COYS!!
Lloris Walker Toby Jan Davies Dier Dembele Lamela Alli Eriksen Kane Vorm, Wimmer, Bentaleb, Chadli, Carroll, Winks, Son Danny Rose is apparently ill
I'm reliably informed that Chelsea have booed their own team onto the pitch. Dogs abuse for every name on the team sheet as they were read out, too!
