Well that was a load of bollox, let's pray for a WBA goal and ongoing rubbish below us. I can see th safety line being 24 pts at the end of the season with us Villa and Sunderland unable to surpass that modest mark!

    Bah!

I hope he stays with us forever, we might otherwise get someone like Mick McCarthy! <yikes>

Big decision for the Board to make and soon - should he go. I would not have thought we would be thinking of AN departure just after a year of his arrival, but with a lot of money at stake to stay in Prem and some very difficult teams to play ahead I suspect the Board are giving it a lot of thought as we speak

What, a manager who takes over a team virtually down, and improves them season by season with no money, just by organising and experience to the brink of the top division?

Let's put it like this, the football probably wouldn't be pretty, but if he spent 20million like Neil did you wouldn't be staring relegation in mid February. That as mikes would call it is fact.

Until the season is over I don't think it is wise to say "What, a manager who takes over a team virtually down, and improves them season by season with no money, just by organising and experience to the brink of the top division?". He might manage the top 6 again, he might not, in which case he has "peaked" you are going backwards again.

Possibly Thai, but as it stands he has and to be fair even if we only manage 7th, against some of the spending clubs have done compared to us it is still bloody good.

Fact of the matter, if we had pep, Dave would slag him off just to be bitter.

I would not go as far as to say he is a duffer of a manger but I do think he has his limits (as does AN by the looks of things as it stands today)
I can't remember his track record at Wolves if I am being completely honest - did he have cash to spend with them? I do recall he got some very good young players but not sure if there was a significant layout to get them.

AN inherited a squad that didn't want to play for the previous manager, when AN took over they performed to their potential of promotion favorites...........to me that was AN getting lucky, now when things are not going to plan you see if he is any good......just my opinion you'll understand which as with anyone else's opinion is only valued by oneself.

You may well be right. He wanted to be bold as he was in the Championship last season and that is how the season began, but he has since become more Hughton-esque in recent months and does not seen to be able to find the right balance. Now whether that is him or the players not being able to adapt, I can not say for certain.

As I said on the match day thread. I'd stick with him, unless the option of a big manager came along like Rodgers or Moyes. I don't see them coming to us. KIO mentioned Pearson. Who is a decent shout, and could sort out our defense, I'm not sure he would keep us up though. He did it with Leicester, but he know all those guys really well, he'd be starting from scratch with strangers in Feb.

I think An would take us back up. I expected relegation this season anyway. We did sod all in the summer to improve a side who scraped promotion. I wouldn't sack him for a coach to take over for a while, then appoint an average manager who probably wouldn't keep this squad up anyway.

So, I'd only sack him if we had a big proven manager in place, and I'd think that would be unlikely.

It's all a matter of perspective isn't it. For example, Newcastle have 50,000 every week, have spent about £80m and have a former England manager in charge. So, you could say we are performing a miracle by being neck and neck with them.

As usual, we have just about the smallest budget and therefore are likely to struggle.

While that is true, Norwich teams of the past have shown enough grit, fight and determination to largely offset the differential in funding. This season we're not even showing that :(

As we all know, we sacked Hughton about 9 months too late. But when we did sack him, (lets be honest, we were nearly all begging for it for so long) when he was sacked Neil Adams took over, and we still went down with a wimper. If they did that, with that much notice. There was only one way things were going, we are going to have Frankie McAvoy in charge for the next few months. Who is he, and will he keep us up?

We do seem to have completely lost our drive and passion and I'm finding it more and more difficult to look forward to going to home games and would have been so disappointed if I'd gone to Villa Park today. I haven't seen any of the game and don't want to, but sounds as though once again we've just not bothered turning up.
I'm not sure we could attract a better manager playing like we are, but I would love to see a more settled starting 11.

Which is strange because those are the qualities that were probably AN's strongest when he was playing.

Up until now I've always been happy with keeping AN as manager even if we went down, but now I'm in two minds.

Part of me thinks that he's got a reasonable chance of keeping us up, that if he did keep us up with some reasonable investment he would do much better as manager in a 2nd year in the PL and if we went down I'd be more than happy with him as our manager in the Championship.

The other side thinks that with the increased money that would be available in the PL next season then if a change of manager meant the difference between going down and staying up then i'd sack him in a heart beat.

I think in time AN will become a quality PL manager, I just wonder if he's come to us too soon.

Yes they have a former England manager that got the sacked & also got the sack from a Championship team last season. Anyway Leicester this year and Southampton last year punched well above their weight in terms of performance v expenditure. I don't think we should accept our position just because we have the smallest budget. After all Vardy & Mahrez cost Leicester next to nothing and have been fantastic this year.
