I've got a seagull on my roof. Its cheaper than a brighton scarf & cleaner as well......
The best thing about Brighton is logistics. 6 points no bother. B/mouth get a play pall. Hope they get 2nd place.

Accrington Stanley one win from promotion to league one. That'd be amazing

It's exciting, but looking at that, whoever is in third has to be thinking the playoff system is desperately unfair!

I've always thought it anyway - a team plays well enough throughout the season to finish third but could lose to a team who didn't do as well and finished 6th but gets lucky with the playoffs. Totally unfair.

It can be unfair, however introducing play-offs has certainly maintained competitive games for longer in the season. It is good viewing*

This discussion comes out every year. The P/O's keep the league competitive till the final game, its seems harsh on the team in third, but it is a necessity.

The playoffs this year are estimated at a value of £170m by Deloitte. Probably even a little conservative.

Bottom team next year could get as much as £100m which would make parachutes upon relegation about £85-90m. That's without increased merch, matchday revenue and sponsors etc. Blimey.

Maintains interest right to the end (as you said), but boy am I glad that we went straight up. Don't think the old ticker would have made it through the play offs.

We thrashed that league under Adkins....can you imagine if we'd failed to get up from the play offs.

    Call the air ambulance.

Don't agree with it being unfair as such, unlucky or unfortunate maybe but every team knows the score before a ball is kicked. And they do keep "lesser"teams trying harder toward the end of season which also affects results.
    Can be very exiting too.

I love the excitement of the playoffs, but wish things would revert back to the top 3 automatically going up.
I just don't understand how a team (Sheffield Wednesday), currently 14 points off of a promotion place, could go up, on the strength of running into a bit of form over 3 games, whilst a team that has maintained form over 46 games, misses out.
For me, it is morally indefensible.
Plus if the top 3 in the league went up automatically, Pompey's season would already be over.

Leicester defender Richie De Laet could make history today. He is already bagged a Premier League winners middle for playing 12 games this season for Leicester and could win a Championship winners medal today as he is on loan at Middlesborough!

    That would be amazing!

Disagree. Teams know how it is at the start of the season. You have to be very good to get into the play offs so it's not luck and it takes more than "a bit of form over 3 games". If there were no play offs today would be very boring. As it is we've got a winner takes all game today. Play offs add so much excitement to the regular season as well as post season. If there were no play offs there would be so many teams not playing for anything.
