The 26 needs to be wittled down to 23 ... so who misses out?

    Goalkeepers
Joe Hart, Fraser Forster, Tom Heaton

    Defenders
Nathaniel Clyne, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Ryan Bertrand, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Gary Cahill

    Midfielders
Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, Fabian Delph, Danny Drinkwater, Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere, Andros Townsend

    Forwards
Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford, Daniel Sturridge

Townsend is a good player when motivated and confident. If he's left behind then England effectively have one rapid "winger" in the half arsed Sterling.

No room for the unplayable Andy Carroll then?

European defenders breathing huge sighs of relief everywhere.

Townsend has done well in the past I guess, I still wouldn't take him.

England never have any decent width, I don't expect different this tournament!

Milner, Henderson and Lallana to start in Midfield with Sturridge up front and Clyne as RB.

    Surely?

    Rashford
Milner (what does he bring over any of the others in midfield? - and I suspect he may also be playing Fat Boy Dim behind the forward(s)
One of the sicknotes - Delph, Wilshire, Henderson - think their lack of match practice will be evident in due course ...

He'd be mad not to take Drinkwater - can't argue with the facts - singularly most impressive and influential English midfield player over the course of the full season - played every game (barring one game ban), works from start to finish, never loses composure, defends as well as attacks ... and just found his shooting boots <laugh>

Milner is more important to the squad than you think, Fossy.

Milner would have been one of the first names down. Not purely for his qualities on the pitch, but he's the perfect calm head to have around a tournament atmosphere.

Has Heaton been good this season? Whenever I've watched Burnley he hasn't had that much to do.
