Hoddle would jump at the chance to make good his silly mistakes in his first tenure. Question is, will the FA be brave enough, history suggests no.
The FA certainly do have a history of over looking great managers that goes back to the late 1970s. I remember Bob Paisley of Liverpool and the Brian Clough and Peter Taylor partnership of Nottingham Forest. Unbelievable that they were all over looked for the job of managing England.
It's amazing how people who have probably never played the game in any capacity are left to run and manage a game that everyone knows how to improve. They simply are too obsessed with their own agendas and money to make the changes necessary to see the national side improve. We don't need laws of homegrown players or limits of English players in teams. We simply need our youth to be better, and that starts at grass roots. Play kids on smaller pitches, improve their touch, control and technique. The old adage is if you're good enough, you're old enough and that stands true here. Clubs won't ignore those who are good enough and if the kids are good enough they will get their fiancé and shine. Someone needs to sack everyone and start a new.
Big Sam shouldn't be too down hearted over this. I read somewhere recently that he is perfectly qualified to tale on the job of FIFA president!
