6 days on and the promoted teams just don't appear to be reading the script Backs to the wall,be overawed and get a shoeing for your troubles In much the same way, albeit tactically very different,as Cardiff caused us no end of problems,Hull City provided a far sterner test at the Etihad than could be reasonably expected given the vast difference in resources If ever there was a turning point in a game it came when Aluka squandered the chance you dream of,and in that one moment probably highlights the area where hull don't have premiership quality. At 0-1 it's a different game and the game plan can be altered to instead of passing the ball through the midfield and at times dominating, the possibility to close the game down against an off colour home side was a distinct possibility As it was Hull just went into the break on level terms but with the whole ground knowing the score line was harsh on them. Second half I thought Man City shaded it and the a bit of quality in the finishing was the difference between the sides,a bit harsh on hull but that's the way it goes if you don't take your chances Huddlestone and Livermore were excellent in the middle and I was surprised how well Danny Graham played,a far better player than I'd given him credit for Clearly the lack of pace and clinical finishing up top is a worry but I saw another promoted side today that certainly have all the tools to survive and prosper in this difficult league I imagine the hull supporters made the journey home pretty proud of their side today
Cheers, would seem the whole world now knows we've got a very capable 'keeper, defence and midfield with no ****er who can score. Put Benteke in our team and I'd fancy us for a top half finish.
I thought we were excellent today, I liked the post match interview with Toure who was very complimentary a out our team. It gives me the confidence we really can stay up, with a striker. If luck had gone our way we could have been 2 up! You've seen goals like Graham's not given offside!
Would have to agree with that, we just need that bit of luck to pull off a Michu/Benteke type signing. I feel we play better football than most of the division and we have a solid defence with plenty of creative players in front of them.
personally i feel you young uns under 30.. have let us down, why are you not a top quality striker? me included
The thing is though, even with Benteke, he was £7 million. Even if we found someone of his caliber I doubt we could afford them. It's a tricky one but hopefully the Allams can see that one last dip into the pockets could make a massive difference.
We have a chance since Sunderland (sold Campbell), West Brom (no Lukaku anymore) & Palace (Murray out, Zaha gone) don't have a top quality striker either..
Sunderland - Fletcher (maybe Altidore too) West Brom - Rosenberg, Long, Vydra, Anelka if he stays Palace - Fair enough There's only Palace who are as poor as us up top and even they spent what, £6 mil on Gayle, it's a serious problem we need to sort out.
Pellegrini said after the game 'Hull were very good defensively, but could also play good football on the attack', praise indeed.
I've also posted this on another thread: http://hereisthecity.com/2013/09/01...ad-into-citys-poor-performance-against-hull/?
Aluko hasn't got back to his best yet. Hopefully he didn't pick up a serious injury yesterday and can get scoring goals like he used to. Koren has really upped his game and is enjoying himself, need him to score his wonder goals again. Brady is very promising and still adapting at this level but will score a few I am sure. Might not have a recognised striker but we do have players that can get goals. Only 3 games in so not panicking yet. Is there really no hope for Prozzy, seems he is not going to be given a chance at this level. Couple of weeks rest now.
think after ehat the bruce said after orient prozzers days are numbered, something along the lines of he needs to man up!
