The inconsistency of the odds available for all the scenarios just about sums us up.

I am going to put a tenner for us to win it all. :emoticon-0164-cash:

Well based on last seasons form that's probably a fair reflection and odds.
It's a little painful to see the likes of Birmingham etc above us in the odds for promotion and relegation, but last years final table doesn't lie. We were awful.

The bookies never rate us, even when we finished 8th, they never had us to finish in the top half the following season, so Inpay zero attention to these.

Both spot on and a reality check for the fans who suggest that we should be vying for the play offs. Especially those suggesting that to boost their claims about a former manager.

The Championship is a very difficult league to predict.
Apart from the 3 newly relegated from the Prem there are few obvious contenders.
Totally agree with Supcon - the bookies have NEVER rated us. I can remember when in 2008 under GJ we got to the playoff final - the bookies had us down to lose EVERY week and we confounded them - so much so that the SUN newspaper stopped publishing their predictions for the Championship because they never got it right!!!!.

Sorry R&W your memory is being selective and not understanding of how bookies operate.
9 times out of 10 a top 3 side will always be favourite, especially when playing at home.

In 2008, the favourites WERE Watford, Charlton and Sheffield United; the 3 newly relegated clubs
Bristol City were favourites for the drop (as we usually are).
    The top 6 ended up:
    1. WBA
    2. Stoke
    3. Hull
    4. Bristol City
    5, Crystal Palace
    6. Watford

The closest the bookies came to getting any of their favourites right that year was Watford, who were knocked out of the playoffs by Hull..

A drinking buddy of mine at the time always bought the Sun on Saturdays (I didn't buy it - honest!) and he would give me the football pull-out as he wasn't interested in football. Every week, the Sun tried to predict all the championship scores (not just ours), probably based on the bookie's odds - most weeks had us down to lose and most weeks it was wrong (most of the overall score predictions - not just ours), so one week they threw their toys out of their pram and stated that they would no longer bother to predict the Championship scores because they were fed up with getting them wrong!

I can't be @rsed to trawl the internet to find that specific edition but I remember sitting in the Grove pub reading it :)

wonder what the odds are for Peterbro not to get the drop ..must be good odds to finish top 12 or middle 8
after last seasons guaranteed to triple my stake should we finish better than 13th not had time to put together a bet for this season... had £300 put by. Odds are very attractive for some teams, but being very tight on City odds.
R&W bookies work to a % [certainly on horse racing / greyhaounds ] aim to make 20 -30% on the book. PERSONAL PREFERENCE / inside info does has an influence. FOOTBALL is long and drawn out.
they are like magnets with their odds … drawing in the punter by fluctuating the odds.
top 6 likely to draw in 70% of money staked and chances are winner will come from top 8 or 9 …. Reality is City to win it should be 75/1 or more promoted 40/1 4th favourite for drop! basically stating will be in bottom 6 …. in other words believing our Nige is not a magician!

do we believe we have a better squad to last season's start … bookies dont

    Comprehension R&W Comprehension.

You wrote 'the bookies had us down to lose every week'.
Which is completely different to your memory of pundits view in the Sun.
Bookmakers and Pundits are different animals.
I don't doubt for one moment who were favourites at the start of the season, certainly not us.
