Spectacular sky. Nature always has a way to produce beauty far beyond anything we can manufacture. I saw some equally impressive skies when I was recently in the far nort of Scotland. On cloudless nights the sky is just a mass of jewels and I saw Mars so clearly. It was almost as though you could reach up and hand pick a star. It certainly demonstrated the incomprehensible size and content of the cosmos. The beauty of zero light pollution. Then I just got the faintest of glimpses of a small green glow in the far distance. Typically and in line with the luck of Bluebirds fan, the full blown display came out to play two days after I left.
Viewing such glorious, star filled skies led me to a lot of contemplating. I couldn't help but wonder if Orion's Belt is a big waist of space.
Our 2 swans have returned to the local pond. Third year running. Went to feed them today. They came to me immediately. Hope they can produce some young this year. Either a jaffa last year or the local heron got them.
Watched an enjoyable and informative programme on Patagonia yesterday. Huw Edwards tracing the history of the Welsh who emigrated there over 150 years ago. Hardship, graft, inginuity and an engrained culture. Could easily have gone to rat sh!t in the first couple years. A very different environment now though Welsh culture is still front and centre. Even the Argentine government has acknowledged the contribution the imigrants have made to their country. It was on BBC Four so should be on iPlayer if enyone is interested. A good watch.
Mystic Meg has passed away. Wonder if she saw that coming? Very poor taste I know. Apologies to anyone offended. I've already picked up my coat. RIP Meg. Good entertainment when the Lottery started.
Topol gone as well. Was he fiddling on the roof? Also starred in Flash Gordon and the Bond film, For Your Eyes Only. Can't say I remember a year like this with so many famous names passing. It seems worse than during Covid.
