By which time he'll have earned what it takes you or me five years working 50 hours a week to bring home.
The way things are now, I just can't help resenting that a little bit.

Best bit was the sheer panic on your face when you was lying to your wife on the phone and I said she’s standing behind you ! <laugh> <laugh> <laugh> <cheers>

Can't help feeling sorry for the big man. He was obviously in pain and knew it was a bad one. And he had been playing with more enthusiasm than we'd seen for a while. He'd be better off to start taking his coaching badges.

He was walking like an old man before going on - he’s just crocked

Maybe he'll have to get a job in the real world.

Working 8 or 9 hours a day to earn just enough to pay the bills and put food on the table.
For a company that won't let him take three months off if he's pulled something.
Sciatica has been dragging me down for four months. I had two days off work with it at the very beginning when it was so bad I could barely walk. From that point on I've had to just lump it and get on with earning a crust - day in, day out. That's real life.

Footballers get it far too easy. All the best medical treatment and rehabilitation for months on end - on full pay which banks them as much in a week as most of us earn in two or three months. In aid of what; kicking a football around?
Time was players used to do that for nothing.
During Charlton Athletic's early amateur era the team won over a dozen leagues and a cabinet full of silverware - and players had to pay subs to the Club to get into the team.

Now most of them turn up in their Range Rovers, break a sweat for a couple of hours then drive off again to their gated mansions, thousands of pounds richer. And the Club's trophy cabinet has had about four pots added to it in living memory.

Players don't choose to get injured. It's a career which is open to anyone if they're good enough.

Granted it's not all his fault.
Right at this moment though Chuks seems to symbolise the poor choices and poor quality that have become our fate on the pitch.
Despite not losing any of those regarded as out best four or five in January, we're languishing a hundred miles from a push towards the top 6 in this league.
And all this while the Club is being horse-traded between more crooks and swindlers.

I'm just really down about the future right now, and popping off with cheap shots at anyone who has failed to make our dire situation any better.
    Sorry Chuks :emoticon-0111-blush
Get well soon and best of luck for the future.
You've lived the dream of being a professional footballer, and I'm just a bit jealous :emoticon-0132-envy: <doh>

Not sure how old you are Lardy but I think we could manage more minutes than Chuks of late - he should walk away from his ridiculous contract that he was given

Who would walk away for nothing? Not me! And he's got a young family, and a career going down the plughole. Maybe the club will negotiate something including a coaching role with the kids, we've always been very good at that sort of thing.

Yeah was a knee jerk reaction- it’s not his fault but we really shouldn’t have resigned him - we knew how precious he was/is , someone should take responsibility!

Most places I go these days I am the oldest one there. Someone as young as Bruce Willis getting dementia, that's a shocker.
