We have no vaccination and no cure for a virus that can only spread from human contact .... ... people considering playing soon for the love of the game are deluded but to be admired. Anyone wanting games simply to fulfil contracts or rake in money need a boot up the arse People are dropping like flies and there's no sign of an end to it.
"An increasing number of Premier League clubs are actively discussing the possibility of bringing the season to an early end, with concerns growing over the feasibility of a return even behind closed doors." https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-amid-growing-concerns-health-safety-covid-19
@Jerry lee .... Echo's saying October for people being allowed to go into stadiums. It's time to just accept this season will be voided imo.
This could be really devastating for a lot of lower league clubs. Can't see how they can all survive. Most lower league clubs are just not sustainable if games are played behind closed doors. Been googling a few financial articles and the figures are devastating as is the inequality Premier league income from gate receipts is only about 13% However league one and two clubs say income from a match day (gate receipts, hospitality, food and drink sales) makes up between 60%-80% of annual income with lots of teams operating hand to mouth on a weekly/monthly basis. From what I can see most of the footballing authorities are saying stuff but in reality just pissing into the wind and hoping for the best A lot of clubs could fold here. They need to wake up get together EFL, FA, Premier League There is enough money swilling around in the Premier league to fix this. However this is an ideal opportunity to take a step back and address how the game is run and structured There are Massive financial inequalities and clubs living way beyond their means No idea what we could do but financially the game is in a mess at the moment so maybe now is the time to change Interesting Scotland are taking the opportunity to restructure the leagues. Is it the right time to look at it in England. In reality I think the Premier league will just bury its head because it is happy to exist in isolation While a number of lower league clubs just fall by the wayside.
Greed may well be their undoing in the end One thing is for certain they have very little interest in lower league football Money is there only rationale They don't really give a **** about the fans I can see them looking to play lucrative game abroad Middle East or US 39 th game been mooted for a while think if there is continued lock down they will play games wherever the money is
I kna it's the daily mail reporting through the sun https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ans-Premier-League-football-return-weeks.html
Can't understand the logic behind wanting the premier league to go bust? Apart from the thousands of non playing staff jobs that will be lost, the best players in the world disappearing, and half empty stadiums. What are you hoping it achieves?
Remember when we all thought VAR was the most important topic in football......those were the days eh.
If they really persist with playing games behind closed doors VAR decisions will be a freaky experience ... ... players standing around silently followed by the decision and more silence.
Looks like the Dutch top 2 leagues are being abandoned. I just cant see how they will make footy work
FFS Leagues One and Two could be decided by the top eight sides from each division taking part in a mini-tournament to decide who is promoted. https://www.skysports.com/football/...ontingency-plans-if-season-cannot-be-finished
Apparently it was a suggestion that evolved during a meeting between the leagues and the club captains ... ... I think it's idiotic, especially from people in the game. They'll have endless meetings and suggestions then void the season just as we already really know.
Just had a call from a Brit mate who lives in Marseille and goes to the matches, home and away tbf to him ... ... says he's heard this season will be voided and plans made to start again in the Autumn. If, as the worst affected country in Europe, we insist on playing it'll put us in a precarious position ... ... a single death of a player, or close friend/relative, will make us look like a pack of rabid mercenaries.
French sport will not resume this season The Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons will not resume after France banned all sporting events, including behind closed doors, until September. "The 2019-2020 season of professional sports, especially that of football, will not be able to resume," French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe told parliament on Tuesday. French football's governing body had hoped to resume the football season in June, following its indefinite suspension in March.
