Another ton for Jos Buttler in the IPL today, this time off 57 balls. The man's an absolute phenomenon.

In white ball cricket yeah, different class. Has the freedom to play his natural game, shame that when the pressure is really on in Test cricket he can't find the same form. He's gonna find it really difficult when the new coach comes in to reclaim a Test place.

It's the truth you mug, there's a difference. I'd love for him to play like he does in White ball cricket but the simple fact is his technique at Test level is found out by top bowlers. 3 times I can remember him playing good test innings , for the last few seasons none at all. One of if not our best short format cricketers ever but I think his test career is probably done !

If you get bored of that have a look on YouTube for backyard cricket, or these guys for a laugh.

Unfortunately this is just a parody trailer, the full version doesn’t exist. Its a piss take of a genuine programme shown in Australia before the Ashes, I think. But there are lots of other very funny, and very familiar to those who have played club cricket, clips available.

What an unpleasant character you are. I wasn't talking about Test cricket was I?

He's a phenomenon in white ball cricket, but yes, his Test career is most likely finished.

Unless they make him captain, of course

Not unpleasant at all, read what I said . You've just agreed to what I said ! If you took more time to actually take in what I've said instead of instantly taking umbridge or trying to get snidey just because it's me, then you'd see things in a different light. I won't hold my breathe though, your deliberately prejudice against anything I post. Sad really to be so narrow minded.

Trust me from someone with Tourettes Syndrome that's not abusive or unpleasant. If it upset you or you found it abusive then I apologise, wasn't my intention. Sometimes because of my condition I do put down or blurt out something inappropriate that wasn't meant as it comes across. I've no intention to continually get into silly fracas' on here with other members. I do have my views and sometimes they seem to be overly negative, but that also isn't my intention. I'll try to be more upbeat and offend less people ! Let's all move on, life's too short :emoticon-0148-yes:

Let's hope it's not another case of what happened to Botham and Flintoff when they got the job. Helluva lot of pressure on him now, even more than before !

A better all-rounder than Botham or Flintoff in my opinion, but I think this will prove to be a mistake.

Bloody hell, don't know about better than Botham ! Botham was miles better bowler, one of the greatest swing bowlers I've ever seen. Stokes probably the better batsman although Botham played some seriously incredible innings. Fielding I'd have them on a par, Botham took a hell of alot of catches , mostly at slip and alot of them downright incredible. Both were and are invaluable to the team and were and are matchwinners. When Botham was captain he lost all confidence and spirit , was only when Brearley returned who was a magnificent man manager that Botham flourished again because he allowed the freedom to do so. I just feel the huge pressure that's gonna be on Stokes could be too much for him to carry. God I hope I'm wrong and he becomes an all time legend

I agree with this, Stokes is the type of player that just need to do his thing and not be burdened with what goes with being a cricket captain. A Stan Bowles type maverick, I feel this appointment may spoil his game

His first season will probably be great, but then reality will hopefully re-establish itself.:emoticon-0105-wink:

He's got a lot to do yet to be regarded as better than Botham imo.

Stokes biggest problem will not be the opposition bowlers, it will be the relentless press.

He’ll spend so much time padding up & blocking the questions, he’ll forget how to hit a boundary!

In saying that, l wish him well.
