It’s nearly 2:00 pm, this time tomorrow I hope to be several pre match pints in! Is that a traditional Scotch meal to celebrate the nailing up of an Israeli?
Roast lamb for us too, but I'm not doing the cooking. Eight adults and four kids for dinner. My first glass will be when we sit down at 5pm, though.
You going tomorrow? If yes where will you be drinking? Im finishing second glass now, but we are eating in 20 minutes.
Yeah, I'll be there tomorrow. We'll be in the Pavilion before the game. It's a bit out of the way, but a decent pub with good Guinness.
The Mrs is doing a chicken joint with all the usual trimmings at the mo..... I cooked this last night. Chicken breast marinated in turmeric, ginger, cumin and black pepper then braised in coconut milk and fish sauce with red peppers, shallots, garlic, sweet potato and coriander. Served on steamed white rice and topped with basil leaves, roasted peanuts and lime wedges.
In my house it's more about welcoming the spring, and the longer nights. Hoping to go to a Beltain gathering next weekend for a fire procession and green man burning (toasty marshmallows on the menu!) - **** that "man nailed to a cross" bullshit
The Pavilion really is a bit out of the way. But when we have a new stadium on the Scrubs or even Old Oak it will be boozer of choice!
Depends where you're coming from, really. We go to White City and walk down - it's about 7 or 8 minutes. As you say, once we've got that shiny new stadium on the Scrubs.....
Bank holiday nosh. Ripped red pepper and duck curry. With baby plum tomatoes, lime, garlic, lemongrass and duck bone stock. Served with white rice. Topped with shredded red chillies and shallots, crispy duck skin, basil leaves and lime wedges. Spicy and nicy!!!!!
Saturday lunch. Smoked cheddar, leek, garlic, pale ale, parsley and wholegrain mustard on sourdough toast. Topped with roasted chestnuts and served with a cold bottle of beer. Simple but bloody delicious!
First cookery endeavor in the new house. Breaded pork chops stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, shallots, goats cheese and lemon zest. Served with baby leaf salad, pea shoots, buttery new potatoes, spinach and lemon wedges. Accompanied with a nice Chenin Blanc. (Still miss my old double oven though )
Where have you moved to Leif, still north of Cov? That looks very fresh and tasty for a warm summers evening.
Yes mate, still in Nuneaton. Actually only moved 5 minutes from our old place. Needed to stay local to Noah's fab school as he moves from nursery to reception after the summer hols and he's very settled there. I also start a little part-time job at the same school in September too. When he gets a little older we may look at moving out of the area though. Dinner was tasty and fresh as you say, the chops just needed a little more filling, especially the goats cheese. Next time!
