They're not all ****s. Marcus Rashford may occasionally dress like a twat but he seems to be a nice fella. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52091219
Players like Rashford grew up in hardship, he probably knows more about the ‘Real world’ than you think. He’s involved in a lot of incentives that give back to the community and is just one example. If my club Furloughs it’s non-playing staff, Woodward’s house will be rubble as soon as the lockdown is lifted. He spends his days maximising commercial activity so the Glazers can line their grubby little claws with stolen money.
That’s great and fair play to the lad, but it still makes me cringe that players are fronting up charity donation schemes - in this case for £100k, asking the general public to donate, whilst he could handed out that amount himself and not even noticed it.
That’s not really the point in charity is it though? He uses his profile to raise awareness for the long term. You can give a man a fish...
My guess is that he has dipped into his pocket but doesn't feel the need to say how much. Unlike Pier Morgan. Jos Buttler announced that he was going to auction his shirt from the cricket world cup final for charity and Morgan immediately tweeted that he'd start the bidding at £10k. It wasn't about the charity for Morgan, it was about him letting people know he's rich and a really great guy.
That system of 'raising awareness' is fine for normal times when the economy isn't broken. Now it's all about who has cash available and that's the millionaires.
oh absoluitely agree but i mean they aren't ever going to go on furlough. Can't believe they haven't taken a paycut and i don't buy the PFA won't let them. They are their own people, they can do what the **** they want. Have a new contract written out if needs be
I'm dreading United getting the idea to lay off their staff. I just can't see them doing it though. Got a mate works at the club, no signs of it yet anyway.
Woodward desperately needs some sort of good press, anything will do, to repair his shattered reputation... here is his chance.
Completely agree to be honest, can't see us doing it. I didn't really think they would anyway, but there's always the chance with Ed and the Glazers to **** it up.
They spent £500m more than they should have done on their boring stadium but can’t afford £5m to pay their staff for 3 months.
If the league is not finished and clubs have to pay back some of the TV money I can see a few of the clubs going bankrupt.
Alot of talk about players not doing enough (they aren't) but what about the owners I've only seen abramovich donate money there may be more but I've not heard 9f it
