Don't get me wrong, it was a great point and I'm delighted with that, but at times it was a bit scrappy. I suppose I've been spoilt by some of the football we've played over the years with Bielsa.
In my opinion we were lucky that Chelsea have a huge Cl match midweek because he saved a lot if players like Giroud and brought some on late. Rodrigo is still coming back from injury but he spent all afternoon chasing shadows, when his job is to provide creativity. So you will not see the best of him when we are not attacking. Harrison, Raphinah and Costa all exactly the same, we need to have the ball for them to do their job Meslier was great Struijk and Llorente were great Pains me to say it but Roberts was good today but again should have scored late on when he had 2 great balls through to him and he fluffed his lines again. Unlucky to have a goal ruled out and unlucky not to score off the bar. Pass sooner Tyler FFS Phillips was great and we had a solid base with him and our CBs That was a great point and is as good as 2 points simply because our goal difference is going to be the best out of the rest. More teams today will fall further behind on points and goal difference
Next two games are Fulham away. Sheff utd at home. Hopefully at least 4 points from those. Then we have.... Man City away. Liverpool home. Man Utd home.
We have to admit our limits at times especially when playing against a £350m team. We were passed off the park by 62% and that never happens and we had only 320 passes when normally we have 600 and today they had 500 passes and normally our opposition has around 250-300. So we were out Bielsad and fair play to them
So far against Champions League teams and top 6 we have beaten Everton, Leciester and drawn against Chelsea and Man City and these 8 points will be the ones to keep us up and we aint finished yet
I'm not having a go at the team, I'm just saying even the ale didn't make it any better to watch. But I understand what you are saying. Something that hasn't been mentioned is when Philips let their player have plenty of space who should have scored.
In the words of Bielsa: “I value the work of Rodrigo who is not ready for 90mins today but his efforts today showed that he achieved more than his body is capable of just yet” Sounds to me that Rodrigo will be either starting or on the bench Friday, Koch will play 45mins on Monday and be available for Friday too.
Hopefully Man City do their job tonight and if we avoid defeat at Fulham in the next match and keep the ten points gap, I think that would be job done for this year.
I mentioned a week or so ago that I'd predicted we would be mathematically safe following the game against the scum. I felt that for the next 6 games (including the Chelsea game) we would get 1 win, 3 draws, and 2 defeats. I had today's game as a draw, so 1 win and 2 draws from those 5 games will keep us on track for finishing on 55 points (yes my predictions for last 5 games are bold, 4 wins and a draw :-D )
can i borrow you're crystal ball mate asking for a friend who's doing the pools ... joking aside thanks for sharing and i believe you will be spot on with you're prediction
There are some enlightened fans on here and some real worriers. My old mate Shacks has started drinking again and he had been on the wagon for 17 minutes until today all that hard work blown away
Lol, I wish I was that good. As I keep saying on the prediction thread, despite being top for all but one week, I still get 4 out of 6 results totally wrong per week on average :-D
Philips was immense today, he was called upon to defend on quite a few occasions, the back line all did well today
I hope he calmed down after storming off down the tunnel clearly unhappy. We’re going to need him if Bamfords injury rules him out for a game or two, can’t afford another Pablo situation
