By the way, did you know that the same problems with Amazon occur in the USA. They pay practically zero tax. So at least one of the Democratic Presidential candidates for 2020 has come up with a novel idea called 10% VAT [goodness, how original] with the sole purpose of helping go towards re-distributing wealth. This isn't just to collar Amazon, but for every huge company in the USA selling retail products. It will drive everyone of them quicker online, but that's the way it's going anyway. Incidentally, Amazon are opening up in Totton.
And I have never used Amazon for the same reason. However, I use ebay all the time, because small sellers get an outlet.
That's ok. Weirdly, I have never liked Weird Al Yankovic's humorous parodies. Not once have I found him remotely funny.
On a day of me posting about electric transport and climate change, I heard that early this evening, two thousand Tesla Model 3's came into port at Southampton from San Francisco, via Zeebrugge, aboard the vehicle carrier Hoegh Oslo. On the map it's the white ship profile with green stripe down the middle. Thinking of seeing whether I can do a Climate Change strike in Highfield Lane campus, and take some photos of them coming off the ship tomorrow.
Yes, but I did it rather large yesterday. Hope to learn that you were protesting against HICC today then.
Sainty Mcsainty fac But will that ship be running on shore power or dirty marine diesel? Need for a change worldwide.
Nice gesture from David deGea, donating €200,000 to the area in Spain devastated by the recent gota fria. Even today, a week later, there is plenty of surface water where it shouldn’t be.
Sadly, it will indeed be running on internal power, at present. Associated British Ports [ABP] have put forward a proposal to provide clean shore power which I believe is going through the various stages of being implemented. Presently, when Southampton Docks is busy, the air quality gets really poor. And it's not great at the best of times.
