refusing to participate in a test could be considered as a failed test as the rules stood then which is why he was banned. So no not a daft comment .
Yes to a daft comment as the penalty for recreational use shouldn't be the same as performance enhancing drugs. If he'd been using performance enhancing drugs they'd still be in his system when he took the test. The guy who won the long jump was a crystal meth addict and got a ban for it. Crystal meth might have made him think he could fly but it wouldn't help him jump further. Gatlin took drugs to improve his performance and he's still benefitting from it.
still not a daft comment as that rule is in place to ensure even drugs which are performance enhancing but quickly leave the system can be detected. Due to that the penalty had to be the same as a positive test. Rules are different now in most sports because of the "whereabouts" rule.
I remember a story from years ago about a footballer being banned for Marijuana as it was claimed to be a performance enhancing drug. There are obviously drugs and then there are drugs that will change your body. Never heard anybody claim to be using Steroids for recreation.
Still though it's dumb, just get someone to sign off on a TUE and take PEDs. If you have asthma and its a disadvantage for you, tough ****. I don't take PEDs because i'm 5ft6 and skinny as **** and that disadvantages me at most sports
There are loads of the ladies who are properly fit and TV doesn't do them justice Then there's the likes of Wang with her hammer...
Severe eyeroll for the fuss over the guy who wasn't allowed to race cos he had gastroenteritis. The BBC panel seemed to think he'd been sentenced to capiital punishment, then when it was explained to them, Logan's beef became "Terrible communication," like the first duty of the authorities is to let the pundit panel know! Sheesh, if the sick guy had been allowed to race, infected other athletes and that had affected their performances, they'd have been in uproar over that athlete being allowed to race despite the IAAF knowing and having had doctors examine him to say he was too sick. I felt sorry for the IAAF woman listening to that bullshit.
I'm willing to marry her so she can get a British Passport and jump for GB. Its a sacrifice, but I'm sure I'll manage somehow. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/40844541
I enjoyed them ganging up on her. It was unfortunate the higher ups fed her to the wolves. At the moment we have a lot of he said she said but if the botswana team can justify their comments (IAAF said he was sick at 10pm but physio said he was with him) and they were saying all of his temperature, heart rate was fine etc etc then i can see things kicking off. They basically ruined 2 years hard work for a man on a suspected case of norovirus. The fact he was meant to be in quarantine and he was still walking around meant that he was spreading (if he had it) everywhere anyway. Also the fact that let some other athelete compete even though they were suspected screams out foul play. I can definitely see why they were upset.
