Paul Bond Paul came to me as a seveteen year old stick insect. He said he was a striker. We were a Sunday Premier League team in Co Durham, a hard, physical league that took few prisoners; Paul began his real football experience right there. Never a real star, he managed a mention in the Echo and gave everything, because he loved the game. He also played guitar and formed two bands, one of which, an Oasis tribute, I will enjoy on the next Bank Holiday. Paul taught Primary School and loved it; his enthusiasm was wonderful and a real testament to our core body of quality teachers. He will be missed at school Lung cancer was the enemy he fought for five years; it takes no prisoners. The same age as my son, not yet forty, just far too early. Lovely wife and son to miss him. Life's cruel. RIP Paul, we had a laugh.
