Just said the same on the other thread. He will be rare for us in that he’s a deeper midfielder who has the ability to break the lines without playing a risky long pass forward.
In his second season Big Vic had some amazing footwork. Not much of a distance dribbler but he got so good at taking a little touch to bypass a player before playing a safe pass.
never seems to get passed, clean tackler, good dribbler, good passer, super fast, very strong. Sounds good.
I've been waiting for the "but" after all the positive news about this lad, but there doesn't seem to be one...I'm now convinced that he's exactly what we need, unless he doesn't join us, in which case he was only going to add depth not quality
I have a dim recollection of Vic sitting Yaya Touré on his arse with a sublime piece of footwork. Have I made that up?
Ralph on the collapse of the Sangare transfer: "I think there are some crazy rules out there. "The last player we wanted to sign we did not get a work permit for because he was too cheap. "If you have not a lot of money and you want to get a gem that nobody knows about, but maybe you could get him, he cannot get a work permit because he is not expensive enough. "That makes it difficult for us to strengthen the team with the money we have and this is the big challenge we are facing every transfer window. "We have our limits, the club says to me we have this limit and we cannot spend more money than this, and this is the way we have to work. "We have to wait, then when there is nobody else on the page and the player is really convinced about coming to us, then we have a chance to get him – but there is most of the time only a small slot where we are able to get these players and then we must be quick."
I can’t solidly remember Wanyama doing it but I wouldn’t put it past him. This from Schneiderlin though, taking the piss at the Etihad, will always be etched in my mind. What a player.
Yeah the latest revisions of work permit rules being tied to the values of contracts and transfer fees are generally a load of ****. I get it in some ways but I think the old rules offered better chances at exemption for young exceptional talents and were better in hindsight. The new rules have tipped the scale in favour of the big clubs.
Ralph has said he thinks monday (deadline day) will be very interesting and the he will be keeping his phone switched on. He said there will be teams that need the money and players that wish to leave... "2 would be good, 3 even better" So I'd guess that would be Diallo and 2 loans? Should be an entertaining and very important next 3 days for Saints
