I have to agree with you. It pains me sometimes to have to read some of the playground stuff that appears elsewhere. I liked this site because there could be some fun, entertainment, but also some really intelligent contributions. I accept that we all see things differently, but thought that the grown ups who contribute could control what they wrote. Seems that I am wrong looking at some of the posts.
Totally agree, we have had many childish predictions, especially on the Brexit thread that have turned out to be more Disney that reality. We can only keep posting logical articles which will hopefully raise the standard.
Did you read the fourth one, 'The Knife Edge', BB...I can't remember? The first draft of the fifth book is 77,000 words now, so about three quarters done. There will be serious editing then, so ought to be ready to publish early in 2018 I hope.
Morning all, rather overcast this morning and it looks as if it could rain any minute. As a word of explanation, I have deleted a thread having had two requests to do so. When it started I did have serious doubts about allowing it to continue, and stated that if I received requests to delete it I would. I might have an opinion of my own, but I am not the ultimate judge of what is good or bad taste, which is why I asked for your opinions. If I see something that could be a threat to the site for legal reasons then I would remove it without hesitation, and this thread could have developed in such a way. It didn't quite get to that point in my opinion, but I am glad to see it go.
Absolutely right. I'm all for free speech, but the title was offensive, and the drift unpleasant. It was unlikely to get any better, and could have got a whole desk worse.
Independence day (well at 12pm) tonight / tomorrow. We are going to celebrate and make the most of it. Very much doubt I'll be up for the Citeh game, flying out of work like a rocket in a bit. Have a good weekend all!
Good morning from a wet island. I'm glad I wasn't at the Jersey Reds v Cornish Pirates game last night, as it chucked it down during the second half. My Mum is over until Tuesday. I think that she may have got caught in it when driving back to the hotel after going out for dinner with my sons and I.
Correct decision. The thread was gratuitous. My default position is "free speech allows hate speech" so that it can be shown for what it is but I'm not sure that it can apply in this case. As Churchill once apparently said: a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has got it's pants on." Here say and testimony is not evidence.
