Burnley and former Luton striker Andre Gray is undergoing a medical at Watford ahead of signing for a club record fee. The 26-year-old scored nine Premier League goals for the Clarets last season, his first in the top flight, but turned down a new contract at Turf Moor during the campaign. The Watford Observer understands the deal will represent a club record fee, which currently stands at just over £12 million for Isaac Success - but is slightly lower than the £18.5 million mentioned in the national press.
Mixed feelings in our household - my other half is a L*t*n supporter ( yes, I know ...) ; overall the sell-on will benefit them up the road. If he does well for us, we'll both be happy
Signing on fees are paid over the term of the contract ie Rich signed a 5 year contract so he will get 20% on signing and 20% each year
Sky Sports take. Sky Sports News understands Brentford are owed 27.5 per cent of any fee in excess £9.75m that Burnley receive if Andre Gray is sold. We also understand Luton Town are entitled to 15 per cent of that in turn. It means if Watford sign Gray for £18m, Brentford stand to make £2.27m minus £340,500 Luton are eligible. £340k - enough to buy 10 players and a snicker bar.
What about giving our own young left back a chance? Mason I believe....Many have mentioned a new left back but he was decent in one game I saw last season.
Luton chairman said they are due nothing from this deal. End of. Deal is 11.5 + add-ons up to 18m - They are only made if those targets are met. This is not completely accurate but there or there abouts.
Apparently we are now interested in Feyenoord left-back Miquel Nelom... and will probably be a third of the price! The whole Berghuis thing might put him off though £16m for Gibbs is just crazy money
http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-e...ear-old-ivory-coast-international-need-offer/ Seems like the spending spree is by no means over - H̶o̶r̶n̶e̶t̶ Maxwell Cornet still on our radar apparently.
The €20m (£18m) is based on what the author thinks Dortmund may have to bid if one of their current players leaves for €100m - if they baulk at that, he could leave for less. Yes we may have 17 overseas players at the moment - possibly soon to be 18 if the rumours are true about the Dutch left back - but we don't actually have to keep them all. It wouldn't surprise me if the likes of Britos, Kaboul and Amrabat moved on before the transfer window closes. And this fellow only being 20 wouldn't affect overseas player limit anyway.
He's a French citizen - wouldn't need one. On another note, it looks like we may be signing another striker, if this is to be believed - http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/08/1...de-details-away-from-joining-watford-reports/
