True - probably wouldn’t have hard nosed approach we need . Others might do although who knows if our players would listen . Bilic and Wilder went down the rant mode and nothing changed.
News: #WatfordFC have held talks with Troy Deeney over possible return to club in some capacity. Former captain released by Birmingham after two year spell. Includes quotes from TD Ben Manga to @TheAthleticFC on coach versus playing possibility.
Asprilla scored a vital equaliser for Colombia last night as they won 2-1. Video of his performance here. Sorry about the music accompanying it !
It seems to me that for the past two years, the PR between the club and the fans has broken down quite badly. I wonder how much of that was to do with Deeney going, who seemed to act as a conduit of information from time to time. Unless the rules are changed to allow a penalty taker to come on, as happens in American football with the goal kicker, then I don't really think he has much playing time left in him at Championship level. That would be difficult for him in the dressing room, as he used to rally the team by example. There could be a role for him, but I am not sure what it would be.
I remember Bobby Howfield, aka The Limey, doing that. After leaving us in 1965, he played for Aldershot for a couple of years then moved to the USA to play American football for six years. Am pretty sure his son played as a goal kicker there too.
Teams from the Japan v Colombia U20 world cup match. Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I've just realised that the number 7 playing in front of Asprilla is one of ours too - Jorge Cabezas who we signed back in October, and is due to come here in July. Unless, of course, he gets loaned to some Spanish 4th Division side beforehand.
Surely this isn't the position the club contacted Deeney about? He was one of those youngsters we had high hopes for - like Mattie Whichelow, Adam Thompson and Gavin Massey - but whose careers seem to fizzle out somewhat.
Avoiding relegation triggered a £400,000 payment for us from Salernitana - but it's still not known if WTE is staying there or coming back. It also seems that the club won't be issuing a retained list yet - more likely to be announcing departures as and when they occur. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...kong-earns-watford-additional-six-figure-sum/
Probably got a bit of stick in the comments . Yes - was another small attacker. Made a good career for himself at Accrington and Cambridge . Seems he is working in the academy so presume it’s not the same job as Deeney might get . Where will that money go ?! Yes probably in contract talks with some players.
I remember Bassini arranged this sort of thing then didn’t turn up literally at the last minute much to the obvious anger and disappointment of GT.
