Hi, I signed up for the old SPN site about a year ago, but my work filters wouldn't let me log in! This site seems pretty good and I can finally log on at work. Another excuse to do **** all:emoticon-0100-smile

Welcome to Not606. SPN has died and risen as Not606. Pretty much the same but we are trying to gain more EPL and Non-Old Firm fans to get more footy debate going.

General Chat is still for calling each other ****s and making fun of fatties. We're trying to keep abuse on the footy boards to the bare minimum in order to attract more members. Just means we have to make General Chat more offensive than ever.

I'm a Vibration Analyst on here so I can only test stuff when it's running and can get a permit. So most of the time I'm left to sit here on the net.

My job is a piece of piss.

What does that involve? Checking the staff for vibration white finger? Or testing big rampant rabbits?

I don't even need to pretend I'm working. Sometimes one of the OIMs on here comes and reads what I'm posting and has a laugh at the pish we talk on here. The guy is spot-on and realises that my job is important but that I'm not always busy, ****ing win-win for me.

Nah, HAVS testing is something we give to the Data Monkeys onshore. I vibration test and diagnose faults on rotating equipment like Turbines, Gens and Motors, that sort of stuff. Also do Laser Alignment and on-site Balancing of fans, couplings and rotors.

Like I said; it's money for old rope but nobody has really realised that yet and they all think I'm the mutts nuts out here.

That actually sound ideal, you get a little bit of manual exposure but not too much, giving you plenty time to put your feet up and talk ****e on the internet <ok>

Wish I could talk ****e online all day <whistle>

Cormorant Alpha nowadays, was doing Ad Hoc all over for the previous 3 years. But been on here since March last year, the place is a total dump because it's so old but the guys on here are a magic laugh. I've got no work to do because a lot of the kit is nearly 30 years old and is just a bag of ****e now so it's always away for repair or sitting on-site in bits.

Are you onshore in Norway? We've got a bit of work out there now and then. Especially in Stavanger.

Frank it was pure luck I fell into this line of work. But I love it, people seem to see me doing my job as some sort of favour out here. Tell them that they only have to tighten a few bolts instead of removing a motor and pump set and they are your firend for life. Definitely a good area to get into before everyone realises how easy it is and all start jumping on the bandwagon. A bt like R.O.V pilots five years ago.
